anyone had a baby in findlay?

Sorry but the Toledo Bump Board is pretty dead.....just looking for any opinions if you or someone you know had a baby at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. I am looking for a new OB and live close to Findlay. I have a good referral for an OB, but was not sure about the hospital itself. TIA!!

Re: anyone had a baby in findlay?

  • I just had a baby in Findlay and I will be honest, my experience was not great. I LOVE the MW that delivered and the nurse I had during delivery was great... the rest of the time I was not impressed. They only came in the room one time the night LO was born to check on us and there was a light out so I had a maintenence guy in my room for a little over an hour right after my baby was born. Also, I felt like I was falling out of bed the whole time because they do not lie flat. Also, there was a vent that ran under my bed that made the floor vibrating half the time I was there so my bed was shaking a little. It was my first baby and the first time I ever stayed in a hospital so I don't really have anything to compare to. It was not awful, nothing went wrong... I just didn't feel like they really paid attention to me... never encouraged me to get out of bed. My mom was really angry because the day DD was in special care I skipped lunch and I never finished any of my meals but no one noticed. Also, my epi kept wearing off which I am told is common with the lady who put it in.  Which direction do you live from Findlay?

  • I actually live south of Findlay...I have some other opinions in the the area but Findlay is the closest and I know of a OB there....so I was curious about the hospital....
  • Even though they are both BVHC I have heard that the Bluffton hospital is better. Like I said, it was not horrible, but the beds really are the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep in. They have good food though!

  • Our main complaint with the hospital we had our DD at was that the nursery had a "no cry" policy and since infants cry constantly our DD was always in our room and we got NO rest at all....it was exhausting...and this time since we will have a 4 yo, my DH may not be there the whole time like last time....so I am concerned about being overly exhausted, thus we are trying to find a new hospital....what about accomadation for the spouse? My DH was miserable in the recliner at the last hospital....
  • Findlay is pretty big on "rooming in" so Ella was in our room the whole time til she went for testing and ended up in special care for jaundice. They would have taken her to the nursery if I asked them to I think... but I have never heard about a "no cry" policy. For spouses they have a love seat that slides out to a couch, sort of. It's not ideal, but it seems a little better than the recliner.
