If you were stuck on a cruise ship...

My cousin in NJ who heads up a blog called The Music Moms asked me "If you were stuck on a cruise ship with any living music star, who would it be and why?"

The question was incredibly hard to answer for me...my choices were:

1. Joking: Mariah Carey so I could beat her diva-self up and she'd have nowhere to run. Devil

2. Serious: Alice Cooper. I've heard that when he's himself offstage, he is extremely intelligent and makes great conversation.

So, if you were on a cruise ship with any living music star, who would it be and why?

Re: If you were stuck on a cruise ship...

  • Paul McCartney, just because I am the hugest Beatles fan and I absolutely love him.

But I dunno...I've grown up around musicians so they don't really hold that mystique that they do for so many people. I think hanging out with any musician I respect would be cool, but we probably wouldn't talk music. Haha.

  • My Step-bro's GF recently went on a cruise with the Backstreet boys. She paid good money for it! I feel bad for the Backstreet boys being stuck on a cruise with all those fans!

I can't say that there is a musician I would want to be on a cruise with. I would probably be too shy to walk up and talk with them anyway.

I'm totally jealous. At one point in my life I too would have paid good money to go on one of their cruises.

  • Tom Waits, no question.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • There's no question for me - Robert Smith of the Cure.
  • A friend of mine booked a cruise with 311. But she is a HUGE fan.

For me - Dave Matthews or John Mayer. I'm sure John Mayer wouldn't exactly be that inviting, but I find him to be funny as hell... when he's not offending the general public.

  • I have met Bonnie Raitt when I worked at SFMOMA and she was really nice. We didn't talk music and I'm not a big fan of hers but my dad was. I would probably like to meet Sarah MacLachlan. I think she would be very down to earth and I would feel comfortable talking to her. I would also love to meet Cyndi Lauper.
