What's up Wednesday?

It's a mixed bag for me this week.

I feel like I'm starting out the new year right with my health. After being on the DL for running last fall, then getting distracted by the kitchen reno, and finally having a head cold recently, this is simple happiness. I've done something exercise oriented every day since Sunday and have a plan to do something every day through the end of the week. This included an awesome 4 mile run outside yesterday. Today's plan is for an hour of Zumba Tone & Total Body Strength classes combined at lunch and then a walk with the dogs after work.

I weighed in this morning at 4 lbs less than last week. Can't argue with that. I'm also sleeping like a rock, which is nice.

Work is pretty meh though. My boss is freaking out at how busy we are so he's gone all micro-management on me. Nothing could make me procrastinate and drag my heels more than being micro-managed. Yes, I've told him to back up a few steps and let me work, but his energy is still a little toxic right now. Makes me not want to come into the office, and not want to do much when I am there. Which of course, just freaks him out more since I'm one of his rock stars when it comes to getting work done. I can't wait until we're through our busy season!

  • My week has been pretty blah so far!  But atleast its Hump Day!  I have a Dr's Appointment on Fri and I'm looking fwd to that!

  • I'm doing well. I'm super motivated to work out (thanks to the official start of the marathon training) but I'm going back and forth as to whether I need to rein it in a little. I have the group runs, running on my own, the endurance class at the gym....yet I am well aware of my need for a rest day every once in a while so I don't kill myself. I'm also kind of neurotic because I know I'm not going to work out much on vacation so I'm having these irrational thoughts of coming back as a fat blob who can't run half a mile anymore....

I'm just trying to get through the work week. I am in dire need of a break and about to get it. I also have a low caseload right now and I'm stressed about leaving and being too low on hours for the month. I'll only have a week to make up anything that I'm short or I get written up, yet I can't exactly add new clients right before a 2-week vacation or pull hours out of my butt if they cancel.

Plus I have a meeting today that I'm dreading a bit. Long story short, I'm in the minority as far as my professional opinion, but I'm pretty dead set in it (with the full backup of multiple supervisors) and I have to plead my case and yet still be tactful and professional about it. That's hard for me. I don't like confrontation, and then when I have to confront, sometimes I'm too blunt. Ugh. I have another coworker there to back me up and she's fantastic but she is VERY non-confrontational so I will probably have to be the big mouth. :)

But....none of the things that I'm stressing are end-of-the-world type of things. In the meantime, I'm getting some personal stuff done that doesn't happen when I'm working tons of hours. And I should be caught up on everything before I leave, which is a good good feeling. And I'm going on a cruise in less than a week, so a big heck yeah for that!!!

  • I'm super freaking excited about officially starting my flying pig training tonight. At the same time, I'm a little sad because I dropped Charlie off at school at 7:00 this morning and won't see him again until tomorrow morning since he'll be in bed by the time I get back from the run. Since my workday ends at 4 I could technically go get him and bring him home, but then I'd just be turning around to drive back to my office area 15 minutes after I walk through the door. I can't justify the time, mileage, or gas $ to do that. Oh well, it's just 16 weeks.

Work is busy! We're launching our updated site this month and there are a million things to do, including downloading and analyzing the American Community Survey data for every census tract in the country! It's going to be a week full of programming and I'm excited about it.

Other than that, I'm meeting a friend for lunch today. I don't get out for lunch often, so I'm looking forward to it.

  • * I'm looking for a new daycare for DS and the new DS that's coming in May, our current provider won't have room for the new baby and our retiring family members won't be in teh area until next year--as we need me to work, we have to find a new facility, either in-home or commercial. (Thanks Jersey!)

    * I'm working a lot this week, we have an award application to pull together by next week and a grant application to pull together. My boss just brought someone else on to help us out, but I don't know if she's going to totally take over my position when I go one maternity leave or if she's going to be just another one of the support people he has in the office. She's helping take care of some of the housekeeping things I haven't been able to get to though, so it's a HUGE help.

  • I'm finding it really hard to get back into the swing of things after 11 days off for the holiday break. Getting up early is the worst...today I snoozed the alarm for nearly 30 minutes. But there are lots of new projects going on at work so that's a plus.

I also have to kick myself into gear as far as house projects (I started many over the break and only got to finish about half of them... I have more I want to start, but won't let myself do it until the old projects are done). And I want to drag my Yoga DVDs out of the box finally (we moved 5 months ago and I haven't had them out once). I think I need a schedule for my evenings so I can get all this done!

Oh, and I'm finally starting the book club book...only about 30 pages in so far!

  • I also decided to up my exercise this year.  I turn 37 in March so I decided that I will go to the gym 37 times between Jan 1 & my bday and if I follow through I'm going to buy something "cheap" at Tiffany's!! I want to start lifting weights again so I don't feel so flabby.  I did great so far this week but now I have a stomach bug.  Yea me!!

  • DH's grandpa died yesterday so we are trying to deal with that and the funeral arrangements. We also have been trying to commit to being healthier and hoping to go to the gym several times this week.

  • It's been a long week!  Work is stressful, but we leave for Puerto Rico tomorrow.  I am excited for the get away, not excited to wear a swim suit right after the holidays. Not looking forward to the catch up when I get back. I am looking forward to getting home and getting back into my routine!
