Re: laminate floors and steam mops...

  • Nope. Steam + laminate floors = bowed, warped mess. I believe most companies will void the warranty if you do use one.

Steam mops are best left to ceramic, stone and vinyl. Wood and wood laminate need to be cared for in a more delicate manner.

  • hmmm,,, I got a steam mop for xmas because we were planning to redo our floors before xmas but holidays got in the way so now we're redoing them in a month or so.  My mom got the mop because it stated it was great for laminate.  I haven't actually taken it out of the box yet, so I haven't read anything myself.  I guess I'll have to read it over and call the floor place. Hopefully I can return it still.

  • So I'm just kind of a lurker but I use my steam mop on laminate all the time and haven't had a problem with warping or anything like that, weird.
  • FWIW, my MIL has used hers on laminate for years with no problems. My mom and I both use our on wood as well with no problems.

Not saying that makes it a sure thing, just sayin'

  • We are renting a house that has laminate in all bedrooms and in places the floor is a bit warped/bumpy. So I wouldn't try to wet laminate floors. I dry vacuum them with a hose and then go over on hands and knees with a swiffer duster. Hmm maybe there's a better way? :)
  • I use a shark steam mop on my laminate wood floors all the time.  No problems. Love that thing!
