Random observation about baby proofing

We bought our house in Oct of 2009. The people we bought it from had small children and therefore had those plastic safety locks on many of the lower cabinets(the ones that are on the inside so when you open the cabinet you have to push down on the plastic part to open) We decided to leave them on for the day when we have children, but I tell you what-they are a pain in the butt! I still forget they are there 95% of the time haha Maybe by the time we have a child I may be used to them.

Just a random observation I made when going to get some cleaner out from under the sink tonight.

Re: Random observation about baby proofing

  • I couldn't deal, those puppies would have been off unless I was like 39 weeks when I bought the house, and even then they might have been off because I would still have 6 mo or more after the baby was born to re-install.

  • Yeah, you'd think we would do that haha I guess it's laziness on our part! Though there are only 3 cabinets that have them.

  • Uh, I hate them too! We need them, but damn, they suck. I'd unscrew them, put them in a bag and save them for later.

  • Ugh, so not looking forward to that. We'll be doing this in the next week or so. We're only putting those kind on the built-ins and bathroom cabinets though. DH wants to put those horrible zip tie types on the outside of the kitchen cabinets since he doesn't want to screw into them, blah :(

I agree with Tripin- take them off but save them!

  • I've come this --><-- close to installing those things in my cabinets since the kitten monster slams the doors in the middle of the night.

We put hook and eyes on our closet doors because Sphynx can open them.  We had to figure out how to keep her out of the closet since she likes to pee on laundry, and we are now hiding the laundry in the closet.  She tries to open them in the middle of the night and makes a horrible racket...bratface cat
