i found $$ & grandfather update

last weekend dh and i found $10 at the mall parking garage...since there was no one around i decided that i would take it and do something nice with it. well today i really needed a coffee so i decided to buy the lady behind me her coffee (i was at the drive thru). it was so fun! such a little thing, but i really enjoyed it! i'll keep the change and do something else nice with it. maybe i'll give it to the homeless guy that i see at the lincoln mall.

anyway, my grandfather is back in the hospital. his calcium has been high (or low? can't remember) and they finally figured out why. apparently, the cancer that he has (you know, the one that the count went down to ZERO) has morphed into some other kind of melenoma (sp?) and it spreading and not good. what a sucky sucky thing. i know i might be a bit of a baby, but i am still lucky enough to have all 4 of my grandparents alive so this scares the crap out of me.

so, i am eating oreos.

thanks for listening. xoxo

Re: i found $$ & grandfather update

  • i'm so sorry about your grandpa :(  no matter how old you are, it not easy to lose grandparents. my grandfather passed away in 2006 (somewhat suddenly but he was 81) and i still miss him every day. i hope you get to spend a little more time with him. *hugs*

  • I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather :(  It's hard no matter what age.  And cancer does suck royally!  Big Hugs!  And eat as many oreos as you want
  • So sorry to hear...keep you and your family in our prayers.

  • I'm sorry to hear about your grandfather. I will join you in a resounding chorus of "Cancer Sucks!" My thoughts and prayers are with him, and your family. And, I will echo the prayer that I've been saying for my aunt, "I pray that their final days, however many that may be, are pain free."

But, I love that you are doing little acts of kindness with your found money. Maybe one of your recipients will pay it forward :)

  • I agree with Alicia.....I hope that all the days that you have left to spend with your grandfather are happy and as pain free as possible. I know how important it is to spend as much quality time with sick family as possible. As hard as it was leaving my kids all summer, I am so grateful that I was able to spend as much time with my dad as I did.

That is fantastic that you are paying it forward with the money! Go you!!!

  • I'm sorry to hear about the bad news about your grandfather.  It's never easy.

Good for you using the money for good.  :)

  • First, I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather.  You are right, you are lucky to have all four still...but its still so hard seeing them get sick.  Cancer sucks and I will be keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

As for the money thing...that is so sweet of you! You probably made that woman's day! I like the idea of paying it forward! :)
