Hi ladies! A bit of good new on the job front.

Jason applied for a job yesterday, got a phone call today, and has an interview on Thursday for a math position at a vocational school just outside of Pittsburgh. Any good thoughts you can toss our way Thursday would be most helpful.

Nothing yet for me. I did call a few places (the specific offices) regarding applications I currently have out, but was referred to HR- go figure.

I also plan on calling the office for the position I had the on-campus with back in September. I'm toying with literally asking the question, "How in good faith could you tell me I would know something within a week and a half, and here we are three and a half months later."

My concern is what's been happening with the program since no one is in the position, AND, what does this mean for trying to get things done once I'm (thinking positively here) in the position... will it be this difficult to get things accomplished?

fwiw, I really don't think you should do this - I applied to 50ish jobs in 2010, had 5 interviews, and only ever heard back from one place...the place I got an offer. No one else ever sent me anything (well, one place sent me a rejection email, but it was the standard one from HR they send every time a position you've applied to is filled, so it was not at all related to my interview). If they want you, they will call.

Can you widen your search net at all (in terms of positions or location)?

I agree with Emily, and I understand your frustration. You know I've applied for jobs and heard back 6 months later.... I've applied and had calls from hr, emails, and great communication and then some that I am sure my app was just passed over and no notification what so ever. Here when someone applies, you get an email when the position closes but thats it. The only communication after is if you get an interview and either get the position or don't. I don't like that policy, but I think that is what the majority work with.
