C25K

Whose done it, doing it... talk to me.  I've started running/jogging and I think I could use a push...

Re: C25K

  • I started it & have gotten half way through it twice. Each time we go on vacation, I get off track for about a month or so & then I have to start again.

This last time, I was up to week 6 (I think) when we went on our cruise for Thanksgiving. & now I haven't done it since we've been back, so it's been over a month. I want to get back into it again & actually finish this time!

I'm not going to lie, it's tough. But it definitely pays off if you stick with it. I was doing the series a little slower than what they tell you to do. I would do 2 weeks with some sets before I could advance to the next week-but as long as you are doing it 3x a week, I don't think it really matters how long it takes you to get there.

    Good Luck!

  • I got through about week 5. It's awesome but it is tough. If you have an iphone, download the C25K app. It's like $2 or something but totally worth it. It tells you when to walk and when to run and it lets you listen to your own music while doing it.
  • I'm doing it now. I'm on week 4. Actually, I'm supossed to start week 4 tomorrow, but I might have to do a repeat of the last day of week 3 since I took a couple days off.

So far it's not too terrible, but week 4 is where you increase running from 9 mins to 16 mins and increase increments from 1.5/3 mins to 3/5 mins... so I think it will be a bit harder.

I for an iphone app, and am totally glad I spent the $2 or whatever it was. I can listen to my own music, it keeps track of what day I'm on, and it tells me when to run/walk. I love it!

    Good luck!

  • I finished it last June and loved the program. I ran three 5k's last year and have recently started an 8k running program. There are a couple podcasts I used for the training. Let me know if you're interested and I can give you the links. GL!
  • No i phone :(.  Unless Verizon makes the announcement soon atleast... Wonder if it's available for a droid since that's my other choice when I upgrade.

Do you ladies do your running outside or on a treadmill??

Cristina, they have the C25k app for the Droid.  it's in your Market (of coure).  I have it.  It's great.......honestly, I only went thru week 1.  But it's a great app.

  • I'm doing this program.  This is my second time because the first time I stepped off the sidewalk wrong and injured my ankle.  After that I became extremely lazy.  Currently I'm on Week 5.  I did take the past week off and will be back at it tomorrow.  If you have an iPod you cal also download the app to that.  I run only outside because we don't belong to a gym.  I'm not going to lie, I am wuss when it comes to the weather.  Being properly dressed helps a ton.

Good luck and if you have any questions, let me know.  Don't be too hard on yourself if you have to repeat a workout and don't make it all the way through one.  This isn't a competition and just take your time.

  • I run on the treadmill. ItsIt's cold here (can be -15) and icy! I hear itsit's hard to transition to outside, but I will tackle that hurdle when it comes!

  • i'm doing it right now - although i was sidetracked by my trip to jacksonville for NYE and now i have a horrendous cold. anywho, i love it and i have the app to my iphone, too. currently i've only run on the treadmill but i will start running outside soon since my first 5k is in february and it will be cold regardless.

i'm running a 5k, 10k, 10 miler and a mini feb - april. so if you have bigger aspirations once you've completed the 5k, they have apps to take you on up to a 10k and whatnot.

and good for you! hope you love it.

Same here, I get to week 5 or 6 and then something comes up.  Love the app.  I just restarted it this week.
