2 things: Midwest GTG & Babies, Houses, and Jobs

I am requesting your help in catching me up.

1. What is this Midwest GTG that was mentioned in my post below? Is there a date and/or location?

2. Who has had exciting/big/life changing news in the past year? New babies, houses, jobs, etc? My life has been pretty boring, but I'm seeing tickers and pictures and I want to offer congratulations properly!

Thank you in advance!

  • I've got nothing exciting (unless you count our new pup Fenway) but just wanted to again say welcome back, we've missed you :)

  • We sold a house (it was my grandparents, 4 hours away), that's about all my excitement.

I hope we have baby news soon, unless JT changes his mind again.

Chicago is good. Just a train ride away for me.

I've seen some of Ben's pictures on facebook. He's a sweetie. 3 days of labor?!?!?! Add this to reasons why adoption looks like a good idea for Jo. I'm a pansy.

  • Hey Jo!

    1. No clue

    2. Mariela Joy was born 3-25-10 weighing in at 8lb 6oz 20 1/2 inches.  She shares a B-day with another S08 baby, Curtis (Karina's son).  She'll be 9 1/2 mo on Saturday and is a complete joy....always happy and smiley and looks just like her Daddy.  I finished grad school (but I think you were here for that??), we got a second dog (Lily- another Cocker in brown & white) last May, and I lost my cat- Sebastian- to cancer.

How about you?  What is going on with you and DH.  I haven't seen much on your blog lately and I don't think we are FB buddies yet.

  • Nothing too exciting here. Both DH and I still have our jobs (yay!).

I became an auntie in September and I am loving every minute of it!

I became certified (Certified Professional Secretary) last month.

DH and I are going through some IF (infertility) struggles and we have an appt with the RE on Friday to go over our plan.

We are still continuing to save for a house.

  • 2. I have a new job in IR in NYC. I start on the 18th. After a couple of weeks of not a word after being asked for a background check, its all moving rather fast. We're listing the house soon and are going to stay in my parents attic during the week until we can get a new place in NJ (hopefully ours will not languish on the market).

And C is a tiny bit pregnant. After our experiences this past year, there is such a thing as a tiny bit pregnant. I'm hoping by Monday she'll be a little bit pregnant Stick out tongue

This past year has been kind of eh for me, but late December was better.

Mariela is absolutely gorgeous, congrats! I'm sorry to hear about your cat. I lost a dog to cancer in high school and know how hard it is to watch them deteriorate towards the end.

Not too much is new with us. I'll be finishing grad school in May. DH is still officiating like crazy. Right now it is basketball season. He has started working some community college games, which is cool. We are currently focused on figuring out what I will be doing once I graduate in term of work. We are hoping that I will be promoted/receive a substantial raise at my current employer, but with the state of Illinois' finances it's up in the air. Other than that, we are trying to figure out some nice vacations!

Isn't being an aunt fun?! For us, it's great getting to play with and enjoy them, but still get to sleep in on the weekends.

I wish you and you DH luck with the RE. I hope that you have a successful 2011 TTC!

IR as in institutional research? That's what I do. I enjoy it, but most people look at me like I have 3 heads when I tell them what I do. Smile I hope you have luck selling your house. There were two houses for sale on our street (or about 20 houses) a couple months ago and they both sold withing a week or two. Hopefully you will have that kind of luck!

I'm thinking good thoughts that the tiny bit turns to a little bit and then a big bit!

  • DH and I welcomed our little girl Madeline Rose on April 23rd. She was 9lbs 8oz at birth and continues to grow like a weed. She just got 2 new teeth(#'s 5 &6) popped through the surface in the last few days.
I am working a modified 3rd shift schedule 3am-11am to accommodate DH and I not sending Maddy to daycare. MIL comes over a couple of hours in the afternoon to watch her so I can nap. So I really tend to post at really odd times.

I love, love being an aunt!! My niece is such the cutest thing and she looks EXACTLY like my sister did when she was a baby...it is scary. We were wiped out at Christmas after playing with her.
However, she is not on board with DH yet...she cries when she sees him.

Thank you, I hope to post a BFP soon!!!

  • Yup institutional research. It is a new analyst position at a growing school so I am hopeful it will have growth potential. Three houses sold in oh neighborhood last yr at prices I can handle so I am hopeful!
  • 1. No specific date yet but we are looking at sometime in March. I believe Chicago was the choosen location.

    2. Well Jeff and I have a baby girl named Brynn. She is AMAZING! She was 6 months on the 30th and I have a hard time believing that she is that old already. She is the best part of my day.
Jeff had surgery (a disc fusion) at the end of October so things leading up to and since have been pretty frusterating and boring for us. But we now see the light at the end of that tunnel :) .

I'm glad to hear things are going so well for you. Good luck with your last little bit of school. Oh and if you guys come back up to TP for a car again you HAVE to let me know!

  • Well I had Lucy in January (but I think you know that from FB) and I'm now a SAHM and teach at LA Fitness (cycle) and teach in an online Human Movement Master's Degree program from home.

Chicago, in March. I will keep that in mind.

Love the name Brynn. I now know two special little girls names Brynn Smile I hope Jeff gets back to normal soon. We went through a lot of intense shoulder surgeries with my dad when I was in high school so I know how frustrating it can be for him and for the family.

No plans for a new car for 4-5 years now. Hopefully we won't NEED to get one, but we have been talking about taking a short trip to Chicago sometime since I have never really seen much of it outside of Navy Pier and both baseball parks. It is likely that I will have an overnight up around there for work sometime, too. I'll definitely let you know!

Yes, I have fallen for Lucy through facebook. I really hope that if I ever have a child he/she has red hair like Lucy's - even though it doesn't run in either of our families. Smile

  • Hi Jo!  Welcome back!  I didn't get to post when I saw you the other day.

Big news for me last year was having Dylan on January 22, so he will be 1 in just a few weeks!  Can't believe it!  Also I graduated in December with my B.S. in Elementary Education and am currently applying for jobs.  Hopefully come across one soon!  This year we are going to start seriously looking for a house.  Still saving money and at the same time still looking so hopefully that will work out too!

Thanks Jo!  I would love to teach Kindergarten but those jobs are hard to come by.  I prefer the younger grades but will take anything that comes along!  Just need a better job before those students loan payments start appearing!

  • Hi Jo! We welcomed Norah Elizabeth on July 4th she weighed in at 8lbs even. She is definitely our little firecracker and looks just like her daddy. I can't believe she just turned 6 months old, it doesn't seem like that is even possible. Other then that I don't have anything else to really update.
