C25K people a question

Hi ladies!! I just started this program Sunday because I really want to get into shape and hopefully learn to like running. There is also a 5K that I would like to participate in mid-April, so I'm thinking I have plenty of time to whip my rear into shape. =)

Now for my question, I know I'm only in week 1 and have only done 1 day (planning on running again today) but I am sore! How long before the soreness goes away? Or do I need to expect to be sore for the entire time? I do realize it is a little different for everyone, but am curious what everyone else's experience has been. Sorry if this is a silly question, I've just never been a runner, so I have no idea what to expect.

Re: C25K people a question

  • Congrats on starting the program!

I've found that if I'm sore after day one, usually by the 2nd to 3rd day I'm feeling much better. I may start out the 2nd run with a little soreness, but by the time I complete that day's run, I feel much better.

Hope it's the same for you. Good luck!

  • I agree with PP, I just started it again. I havent run or attempted to run in atleast 6 months. Needless to say it was a little painful. But as I started getting into it the pain went away. And I started to feel the **burn** :)

Just make sure to take your days off, let your body have time to heal a little.
    Good luck!

  • Thanks ladies...I'm not near as sore tonight - I ran last night. So, maybe it really won't kill me lol.

Good luck to you too C in keeping it up!!!
