Anyone on the new WW plan?

I won't be able to get to a meeting for a few weeks but I wanted to start now. What are the major differences? I used a coworkers calculator to get my new daily points, but she didn't have the getting started book. Any help would be appreciated! TIA!

Re: Anyone on the new WW plan?

  • I haven't been to a meeting since they changed the plan ( bad bad bad) BUT from what I gather the biggest difference is the way the points are calculated.  Instead of using calories, fat and fiber they now focus on the things that make the calorie, so you use fat, carbs, protein and fiber.  I also believe that most of (if not all) the fruits and veggies are now 0 points.

I know that Jacki posted about it awhile ago so it might be worth talking to her and there were also a few other girls. Sorry my brain is a little fried this morning so I having trouble remembering names.

  • I am! Just started this week. I never was on WW before so I can't compare the programs, but it seems to be working for me so far.

I'm only doing the online program though. Never been to a meeting, but might try one of these days.

  • I technically am...but haven't been to a meeting in 3 weeks. Bad, bad bad!

The major difference like Montana said is the way they calculate points. It is now fat, fiber, protein and carbs. You get more points -- so the lowest is 29 vs 18, but point values also changed. Mainly your foods higher in carbs went up. The WW bread that used to be 1 pt is now 3 pts. All fruits -- even bananas --- are now 0 pts. Most veggies are 0 pts too, except your starchy ones. The weekly flex pts went from 35 pts to 49 pts. I think the idea was to get people eating more fruits/veggies vs the 100 calorie snack packs for snacks, because most of those points went up as well.

I signed up on Dec 4th and did amazing the 1st week, losing 4.2 lbs. Then the holidays came and I fell off of the wagon. I plan to start my weekly Saturday meetings again this week.

  • Thanks ladies! I am going to do the pouty face to DH and see if he will pay for me to go back today. (Yes I am that poor this week) It sounds good and I did so well on it before (I am a lifetime member) but fell off and gained all the weight back!
  • I'm doing it, too ;o) I love the new system. I've only lost 2 pounds so far, but that's because of all the cheating I did on christas and new years and the days before and after lol You HAVE to get the new calculator. It isn't based on calories anymore, so you can even guess like I know we all used to. Winkhehe Smile
