those of you doing ww...questions.
what is the online program like?
how much does it cost?
i have a good 30lbs to lose (though i'd be happy with 20-25) and i cannot seem to do this on my own.
weight is one thing that my husband just doesnt understand...he's skinny, skinny (a little too skinny) and never has to think about the food that goes into his mouth.
since christin suggested doing support here i was thinking thats a good way for me to start and have people to lean on.
Re: those of you doing ww...questions.
I did both online and meeting when i did weight watchers. Apparently the meetings are good for accountability but if you guys start a group here with weekly weigh-ins I would think that would take place of that. My favourite parts of the online program were the recipes and how easy it made tracking what i ate. i can't remember what it cost.
i "knew" what i had to do to lose weight without weight watchers, but the structure made it happen.
I lost the last of the baby weight with weight watchers and will do it again after this kid, possibly sign up even earlier while i'm still nursing.
I did the on-line program a couple of years ago. It was $16/month. You are able to track your food & activity on-line, access to recipes, articles, videos and the message board. I lost 17 pounds.
This time I am doing the meetings. I am actually enjoying it. I didn't think I'd like it but it's nice to see the same people every week, share recipes and help each other out. There is something called the monthly pass that allows you meetings and the on-line access and I think that is $30/month.
During the week we cook out of the WW cookbook as much as possible and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday are our eating out days, I have managed to eat at waffle house every Sunday morning and still lose weight.

Online only is $17 and change per month. They have free registration right now if you sign up for 3 months at once, which works out to just over $50 (and if you don't, the first month plus registration works out to be forty-something dollars, so the deal makes sense).
I've only been using the online thing for a week, but so far I really like it. It's easy to log food. I haven't had to manually enter anything yet. The database is really extensive, and logging is easy if you eat the same things over and over (I do this), because there's a list of recent foods on the page, and you can just drag and drop them into your log. It takes seconds.
I used to use another site, myfooddiary.com, which is $9 per month, and also really loved that. It's just straight calorie counting though, and I wanted to try the new WW plan. But, it's another option that you might want to look into.
The only thing I don't like about WW so far is the community section of the site. All of the groups and challenges seem to have thousands of members, so I think it would be hard to make any sort of personal connection with people. That's something that really helps me to stay motivated.

I made this last night and it was very good.

Make sure when you put it in the oven the foil is tightly closed, we really didn't get enough liquid to properly baste it.

This is exactly what I'm worried about struggling with. Prior to the new point system, I would always think something worth 7+ points wasn't worth it, and I think I would still function under that mentality. I'm considering going back...I can't decide if I want to do meetings or online. I've never done online - so accountability is a concern of mine.
Also, when I did go to meetings, I never had trouble logging my food during the day - it was always figuring out my points for dinner that I neglected. If I'm going to do it, I have to really put forth the full effort, otherwise it isn't worth the money.

It's definitely worth it to invest in the starter kit. It has the dining out guide and a food guide that has tons of foods and their points. It has really helped me calculate the points of things.
Boxerfan, I've been having some difficulty under the new system, too. I made lifetime the day they introduced it. My usual breakfast went from 3 points to 5 points. I remind myself all the time that I have more points, so it won't matter. And it's nice to be able to have fruit for an evening snack and not worry about the points.
I love the meetings. When I leave my meeting, I feel pretty inspired to keep on track and try whatever new recipes other members have found and shared.
I never thought I would "enjoy" going to the meetings, but it does help me feel refreshed each week on the plan. Please note, though, that I'm actually up 5 pounds from when I started the at work meetings last year, but that's my issue, not their's. I'm trying to be better about sticking to the program this year and could probably stand to lose about 40 pounds.
I would love it if this group wanted to do some sort of weekly check-ins, recipe sharing, etc.
I was just in the process of signing up for WW online when one of their commercials came on with someone who lost 100 pounds. Makes me feel better about the 50+ I'd like to lose before trying to get pregnant.
Tomorrow my coworkers are starting a Biggest Loser competition and I think I'm going to join. But I could use all the motivation and accountability I can get so I'd be up for check-ins here too.
