  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

We hemmed and hawed for a while- "Are we ready? Are we not?" until the "Are we not?" doubts faded away. We both hit the REALLY ready at the same time, luckily.

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board? We always discussed trying after John finished law school, I tried to move the time line up, but we waited until he had taken the bar.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it? I have only watched the happiest baby on the block video, haven't read any parenting books yet

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing??

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway? My baby shower was at about 30 weeks.

    Updates:

Started maternity leave yesterday. (but still tying up some loose ends from home) Everyone tells me to enjoy the next couple weeks, but I'm just ready to meet my little girl!

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

I was definitely ready before DH, but it wasn't hard to get him on board with the idea. We have both always been on the same page as far as having kids goes: we wanted to buy a house first, and we both needed to have jobs. Well, those things happened and DH was still sketchy and worrying about money...my thoughts were that we could always "worry" about money, but time was running out in the kid department.  We are now totally both on the same page, and in our 2nd cycle of TTC.

TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

I can't believe Laura is on the next up list!!  yay!

We're ultra planners, and we always discussed starting to TTC right around T's 30th bday (mid-September 2010).  Like, we discussed it prior to being engaged even.  With my half marathoning and our Paris trip, we hemmed and hawed a bit about whether we should wait, or maybe it would take longer than we thought, or maybe it wouldn't matter if I was PG and running or PG and in Paris, or maybe it would, yada yada.  I feel like I was anticipating it and SO excited to be TTC until we hit our date, then I kind of felt like - whoa, this is it.  But when I'd talk to T, he'd say, "I'm 100% completely and totally without a doubt READY."  So, we just went for it and started TTC anyway.  I'd say we're equally on board, which is what I really wanted.

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

We talked about it for a long time and decided to start Feb of 2010 after our DR trip. I had a minor freak out about it at that point so we decided to hold off. We continued to talk throughout the spring about it and when we were both ready we decided to go for it!

    We're ultra planners... mid-September 2010

If such a thing exists, I have such a couple-crush on you guys. Your ultra-planningness is so endearing. I love the specificity! :)

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?  We had decided to wait at least a year after getting married, even though I was getting excited to start.  Then we were considering waiting another 6 months because of job situations... but we ended up starting right around the 1-year mark, and we were both ready.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it?  No parenting books yet- my friend recommended Baby Wise, so I have a copy of that.  She said to read it before the baby arrives, so that's up next.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing??  I didn't get any specifically special comments, it was just nice to hear that it was noticeable and not just a matter of "is she gaining weight?"

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway?  I have two showers, one this month and one at the beginning of Feb.  They're both going to be big ones, which makes me nervous.  Also, the Feb. one is at my 36-week mark, which seems really late to me... but the hosts didn't seem worried, so I guess I'm not!

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?  i was charting to avoid, then we both kinda questioned why we were really avoiding, and decided that none of our plans in life would be derailed by having a child.  we will still travel and still do the things we want to do.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it?  no books.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing??

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway? baby showers are not common here, so we are not having one.  i am sure if we hadn't kept our pregnancy a secret for 20 weeks till we made the trip back to the states, our family/friends would've thrown us one.  but i am glad they didn't.

  • Ooh, my first time posting!! Weiiiirdddd...!! Big Smile

TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

We were into our second year of marriage and lots of couples in our circle were having babies (really, really cute ones), so we decided to take the plunge. I felt like I was seriously ready to TTC before he was, and he was more "go with the flow." Now that I'm PG, he is more ready to be a parent and I am terrified. Funny how that worked out.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it?

I am not reading any books, except for "The Girlfriend's Guide..." because my friend decided that I needed some laughs (I had a difficult time with the pregnancy at first). DH is reading "The Expectant Father" and he likes it a lot.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing??

No comments yet. I think people can't tell if it's baby or fat, so they're erring on the safe side. Having been chubby all my life, I had a hard time accepting this new, rounder belly.

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board? We decided that buying a house before having our first child was not a priority anymore. DH and I agreed that the time was right because I finally finished my schooling and we did not want to wait too long to have our first child since we want to wait a few years before thinking about a second child. We avoided discussing when we were ready until our vacation this past July when we had a lot of time to talk during our drive up to Washington.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it? I bought What to Expect the First Year, but I have only skimmed through it so far.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing?? I don't know if it is a good comment, but my boss told me that I am not carrying very wide so I am probably having a boy, lol.

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway? I think my shower is being planned for March, two months before my due date.

First days: How much did your cup size increase when your milk came in? Thinking about my cup size after my milk comes in scares the crap out of me because I have already gained three cup sizes. Crying

Ditto that, sister!  I'm already rocking a 36H, and people keep feeling the need to warn me that they'll get bigger when my milk comes in.  Yikes!

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

Actually, DH was the one that brought it up. We were on our camping vacation in June 2009 and he asked when I will be finished with my BCP so I told him that I would be done at the end of the month. So we decided after that pack to go for it. I did charting, OPK, CBEFM, etc.

I know this may not be the place for it but we have an appt with the RE to go over another plan. At the last appt, injectables were discussed so we will see what happens. I am nervous, excited, scared (mostly of the cost! Stick out tongue), etc, etc. DH has been a great supporter and he has been rock through all this.

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

DH and I talked about it and decided we wanted our kids about 2-3 years part. So we TTC # 2, when DS was about 1.5.  When TTC #1, I had to convince him, it took me about 6 months to get him on board.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it?I am reading What to Expect, Dr. Spock - it's old school, but my Mom used it and I turned out okay.  I am not sure if any parenting book will actually tell you how to do it.
  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board? DH was ready way before I was. He had to get me on board and it ended up being around 6-7 months after we got married. (He wanted right away and I wanted a year or two.) Now with #2, I'm beyond ready now and he wants to stick to our "plan."

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it? I read a few...none of them really prepared me. My Mom and Mommy friends (along with the doctors and lc's) were the best source of information for those first few months. I need to start reading books now about toddlers instead of babies.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing?? Hmmm...I don't know. However, the absolute worst was this ridiculous chick at Verizon (customer, not employee) who asked how OVERDUE I was...um, I still had 7 weeks to go...I think I went to the car and cried.

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway? The family shower was at 30 weeks and the friend shower was at 35 weeks.

L&D: What were your first signs of labor? N/A I was induced and ended up with a c-section...so, the pitocin drip or the spinal?

First days: How much did your cup size increase when your milk came in? What?s your favorite nursing bra? It didn't. With DS I was soooo swollen that the milk just replaced all of the fluid I was retaining. However, to give you an idea...before I got pregnant I was a 34C...my nursing bras were a 38E. Now (4 or so months post bf'ing) I'm a 36D.

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board? DH has always wanted children... I needed a bit more convincing and also wanted to be married for 2 years before having a baby. We're due about a month before our 2 year anniversary, but the timing was just right for us. We were taking a Mediterranean cruise in October, and I didn't want to be in the first tri (in case of m/s). However, I wanted a spring baby. We decided we had a 3 week window in July to TTC to hit both goals... if it didn't happen we were going to wait until after our cruise to TTC. It happened at the end of our 3 week window, which worked great since I was ending the first tri during our trip and we're due in April :) We were surprised when I got a BFP, even though it was planned.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it? In addition to pregnancy books, I have read Love & Logic and a few celeb books about their pregnancy/parenting (i.e. Belly Laughs, Sippy Cups Are Not for Chardonnay, Mommywood, etc.). I read these prior to TTC for something light and enjoyable.

Love & Logic was good, and I will probably read again when LO is here for a refresher. I liked the approach.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing?? "I can't even tell" has always been nice :) I could take that two ways... I was already large or I am holding well (thank you long torso). I've decided on the latter and to take it as a compliment.

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway? Not quite there yet... but we're looking at late Feb or early March for a shower.

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

We talked about kids extensively before marriage and once we were married I brought up a timeline that H agreed to. Our timeline had been based on certain goals originally but the more we talked about it the less necessary those goals seemed. I think we started at a perfect time.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing?? A friend at work says she likes my 'little belly' but if you didn't know I was pregnant I just look a little chubby. I'm actually wanting more belly at this point so that I can wear the maternity tops since my shirts are all too short!

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway? I think in April, my due date is May 27

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

Talk about leaving things to the last minute! I was 38 when we got married and DH was 42 so we had no time to think about it, just launched right in after the honeymoon and again when I started ovulating after weaning DD. Second is taking a lot longer than the first :(

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board? With this baby, I knew I was ready when DH started talking about getting a vasectomy and I started crying. I had to get him on board, and that took quite a few months.

1st trimester: Are you reading any parenting books? If so, which ones? What do you like/dislike about it? I read a ton of L&D/pregnancy books last time around, but haven't had much time for reading this time.

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing?? "It looks like you just have a basketball under your shirt." For some reason, I always wanted to look that way when pregnant. The comment made me feel like I'm "cute" pregnant this time. LOL.

3rd trimester: When did/will you have your baby shower or blessingway? A dear friend hosted a shower for me in December.

L&D: What were your first signs of labor? I was induced, so I'm going with Ryn here: the pit drip?

First days: How much did your cup size increase when your milk came in? What?s your favorite nursing bra? It didn't increase at all and I barely had any milk. I mostly liked the ones that were very sports bra-ish.

T, can you put me on the due date list? Baby is due Feb. 13 but I'll be induced sometime around Feb 9.

  • TTC: How did you decide you were ready to TTC? Was your partner ready at the same time or did you have to get them on board?

We had talked about it for a long time before we even got married and knew we wanted to start TTC right away. We were just married in November and leave for our Honeymoon tomorrow (YAY!) I wanted to have some control over AF for timing with the trip so we waited until a few weeks ago for me to stop taking BCP. If not for the trip I would have gone off right after the wedding.

We married when we were 25 and 26 so we waited and waited, having fun, thinking we had all the time in the world.  Then when we had always talked of trying (when I turned 30), DH lost his job!

So, we had to recover...now I am 32 and we are in our 2nd cycle of trying.  We are both ready and eager!  I try not to stress about how long it may take to conceive, I have no need to worry, but I am an anxiety girl, ugh!

2nd trimester: What?s the best comment you?ve gotten about ?showing?? A lot of people have told me I look like I've lost weight everywhere but the baby belly. They say it shows more in my face, back and upper arms.

Mine were never very large but they didn't get that much bigger when the milk came in. They got swollen and sore, but they went down after she would drink it. Then eventually that stopped happening.
