Where to get my e-ring resized?

It has been sliding around my hand since the day H proposed.  It is time I get this sucker to fit.

Any suggestions?  How long does it take?

Thanks.

Re: Where to get my e-ring resized?

  • I don't have any suggestions, just a thought. Are you planning on starting a family soon, if so your fingers will swell. So, you may want to wait a while. But again that is just me.
  • If you take it to a Jared's they can usually do it within a couple of hours.

  • I had to have my grandmother's ring resized, stones tightened, and polished up and it took a couple of days.  It was from 1946 and had engraving inside so that may be why it took a while but I would suggest taking it to where your H originally bought it from.  I know that where we got H's ring they will resize it once for free.

H bought my ring from a jeweler in LA.   They would resize it, but I have to send it in, and I don't feel comfortable doing that.

So, I'm looking for a local option.

  • H bough my e ring at Continental on Westshore in Tampa, across from Westshore Plaza.  I had it sized down one size and they did it in one day.  It is platinum, I don't know if the metal makes a difference?  H had his white gold band sized twice.  The first time the made it larger (he said he couldn't "breath" when he first got it, before we were actually married.  Oh god, I almost killed him!:)   and that was no charge, it took an hour.  The second time he had it made 2.5 sizes smaller (men suck in this way) and they took it for 2 days and it was $50, but that seemed reasonable.  They clean mine for free for life and since I wear it bartending it gets really nasty and banged up, so they have their work cut out for them there :)  If you go there, ask for Christy, she is awesome.  She emits cheerfulness :)

  • I think it depends on the ring, but my original e-ring was too big to resize because there were diamonds on the sides and there is a risk they can pop out after the ring is sized. So I had to get a whole new ring!! There is a jeweler in Westshore mall that I really trust, FixitFast or something. He is inexpensive and quick!

Gotcha!  I've used Gold Palm Jewelry in South Tampa at 3225 S. MacDill Ave.  They did some custom work for my family and I.  I've also used Les Olsen in Palm Harbor which is where I got H's ring from and they resized my grandmother's ring for me.  I would say $50-60 would be expected for a ring resize in most cases.
