Speaking of online classes...
I think I may have crossed the line on mine. Whoops!
My online class is Intro to Fashion, and typically our message board discussions aren't really debates. The biggest disagreements come from 'which store or brand would you place in x category?' However, in the module on children's clothing, the professor posed the popular debate question, 'should American public schools have uniforms?'
Having participated in uniform debates since junior high, I can argue either side. I've always leaned slightly in favor of uniforms (which probably comes as a bit of a surprise to many of you), but some of the reasons to be against uniforms correlate with views I'm passionate about. At the end of the day, though, I'll argue either side.
I guess I was feeling a bit antagonistic/ballsy, because I decided to take the pro-uniform stance. So far there are only two of us posting, but I countered the argument 'Girls hike up their skirts' with 'the only way to eliminate rule-breaking is to discard of rules. Getting rid of uniform requirements because people don't follow them is like saying we should get rid of laws against theft because people still steal.'
Sigh. E08/A06 has made me fiesty.

Haha, yeah, which is why it's ballsy because my prof is probably anti-uniform as well.
I'm banking on the liberalness of the industry to make my case, though. Sure, uniforms are bad for business, but... I'm sort of egalitarian when it comes to public schools.

I'm going back and forth with someone in a class on the issue of censorship. I find it fun. Maybe that's my a06 coming out. Maybe they don't find it as fun
Yeah, I think that's part of it. Her first response started, 'I enjoyed reading your thoughts...' Her second post didn't include such pleasantries, lol.
Although, it was kind of fun to see her argument devolve into, 'I think uniform dresscodes are stupid rules'.
I just hope I'm not coming off as disrespectful.

As someone who went from a dress code to uniforms I can tell you uniforms are the best, simply b/c they're so much easier and cheaper. Cheaper is especially true for younger grades (kids that grow out of clothes fast) b/c parents don't have to buy an entire wardrobe every year. You can buy uniforms off other parents for cheap and you only need a 3 outfit rotation. I highly recommend uniforms.
