I got rid of everything Christmas in my house on Dec 26, except the tree. It's fake and pre-lit, so it still looks like a perfect department store tree. It's so tedious taking all of the ornaments off and compacting the tree back into it's box... I have no motivation to do it, but I am getting sick of looking at it. I usually have it down by New Years!
Please tell me I'm not alone.
Re: Procrastinating
We were actually really good this year and started taking stuff down NY weekend. Most of the stuff is packed away and the tree is out on the sidewalk, but I just need to organize the storage bins a little better. So why are there still like four big storage bins littering my living room a week later?
L-A-Z-Y
Usually I wait until after NYD to take stuff down. But with New Years on the weekend and having taken the week leading up to it off I started taking stuff down the middle of last week. We didn't take the tree down until Sunday though.
Now if only the stupid holiday car commercials would go away...
I put up a lot of decorations the weekend after Thanksgiving and the beginning of December so we had had them up for a good month by the time we took them down.
This is why I like to get things up ASAP after Thanksgiving. I love making it look like Christmas threw up in my house, but for all that effort I want to be able to enjoy it for as long as possible!
We aren't usually so quick with getting things taken down, but with the holidays falling the way they did this year, I though I'd better take advantage of the time off we had to clean things up so I didn't have to try to do it over several nights after a long day at work, making dinner, cleaning up, etc. Plus I got tired of it a lot faster this year than normal.
Ha, this is basically what every December is like for us so I guess I'm used to it!
We usually keep everything up until the 6th (12th day of Christmas). This year for some unknown reason we went into hyper mode and took everything down in about 3 hours Sunday night. Then DH took all the boxes to the basement on Monday so we are done way earlier than normal. Of course, like always there were a few stragglers ... the kitchen hand towels are washed but still sitting on the dresser in our bedroom.
That's so cute
I didn't know it wasn't just a song either until a few years ago. And I went to Catholic school!
Yes, this is what I was referring to. That is so cute that your mom moved the wise men around... I love that idea!
Kiwi- ditto Rock and Baker, that's really cute! It reminds me of the shelf elf!
