I've lost a solid 15 pounds (was down more, but with the holidays...) and I've been doing really well. So I thought I would share a sample day in my menu life.
Breakfast: Low fat French Vanilla Yogurt w/ berries (I do whatever is on sale or fresh...blueberries, blackberries, raspberries or strawberries). I buy Stonyfield brand yogurt and they do make a fat free, but i prefer the low fat and I need the fat somewhere.
Lunch: Fruit (whatever I can get my hands on), pretzels or pita chips and veggies.
Dinner: A BIG fat salad: 3 oz of grilled chicken or ground turkey breast. I usually do romaine lettuce, tomato, carrots, black beans, corn, salsa, avacado and I break up some chips and usually use a ranch dressing (Walden Farms makes a fat free/calorie free ranch that's decent).
Beverages... I drink coffee (no sugar, but with cream or creamer), water, diet soda, or watered down juice.
I generally allow myself a "cheat" lunch (or breakfast - bagel) once a week and a bigger dinner 1-2 times a week. I also do NOT stop myself from having a piece of chocolate or a cookie or something sweet.
Next week I'll start incorporating more... grilled chicken, brown rice, broccoli and sweet potatoes for dinner... that type of stuff.
ETA: One more thing I wanted to mention is that probably the hardest thing is that DH expects a full on meal everynight. This was a huge part of me gaining weight. He still isn't "getting it" but he is a little more understanding about. He will either do his own thing, or he'll have what I have, but bigger. It is beyond vital that I don't fall into playing the good wife routine, for myself, for my health. And really I hope he gets that. My life CANNOT revolved around food.
Re: S/O Operation Fatt Butt
Congrats on the weight loss! Sounds like you're off to a pretty good start.
I think I could mostly do your menu, but I don't know about lunch. I can't usually make it to dinner if I don't have some kind of protein in the middle of the day. Does your lunch keep you satisfied or are you starving by dinner?
I generally eat between 12-1 and I don't eat dinner until after 7.. by the time I get home, get changed, get on the treadmill and what not, it's usually closer to 8 and by then, i'm hungry.
It took me about a week to adjust, and if I feel hungry when I'm leaving work, I usually make a cup of decaf or hot cocoa for the ride home (i commute 1-1.5 hours each way). Once I adjusted, though I felt SOOO much better. I had more energy and was able to accomplish more in the afternoon at work and then once I got home as well.
I'm having similar issues, but in reverse. My H actually gets it and he even wants to eat healthier, but I'm so friggin hung up on being "the perfect wife" and making some comforting, super yummy & time consuming meal each night.
I'm this way too - only I do it for selfish reasons. I really enjoy cooking so I obviously want to cook for my taste tester, DH! Instead, I've been cooking new WW recipes that we can enjoy together.
That is great news! I want to lose another 15 lbs by the time DH gets home in a few months. I might try your eatting "plan".
