Let's see, it all started the day after Christmas. There was a storm coming up from the south and they were forecasting from a dusting to 2 feet of snow. We were supposed to drive to my aunt and uncle's house in VA, but since it was already snowing there we decided to hold off. The next day it was crazy windy and when we went to leave I had a little breakdown because I was honestly scared about driving across the bridges. So Wednesday we left and it took us 8.5 hours to make a 3.5 hour drive. Brooks was a trooper until the last 45 minutes, then he totally melted down.
We stayed in VA till Friday and headed back home to Philly. That night I got an email letting me know that a father of friends of mine, who was also one of my college professors, who also did theater with my parents had passed away.
Since I didn't have anything appropriate to wear the next day we went shopping. Then Monday Brooks and I took the train down to Fredericksburg. Made it in time to grab a bite to eat with my folks then we all headed over to the funeral home for the wake. The next day was the funeral, since this guy had been a musician he requested a choir of anyone he had ever taught or performed with sing. It was awesome to see all of these people show up and an amazing tribute.
Brooks and I left this morning and got home around an hour ago. I'm exhausted and NOT looking forward to the 5 hour round trip car ride this Sunday to visit his grandparents. Guess I need to look forward to Red Lobster.
