We'll probably just hang out at home for a few days and then maybe take a trip up to ND to see his family. He doesn't really like being the center of attention so I can't go too overboard.

Yay Julie! I'm so happy for you!
As a military brat, I've seen how hard it is on families being separated due to assignments. My dad was active duty in the Navy for 13 years and was out to sea on ships and submarines for extended periods of time leaving my mom to take care of the house, pregnancies then two kids, life. Then they both were in the Reserves for 20-ish years. Dad was in Saudi Arabia for a year in Desert Storm and my mom was in Bahrain for a year right after 9/11. It's interesting to me that my dad had a harder time coping when my mom was gone than she had when he was gone all that time over their marriage. She was used to being on her own...he wasn't.
I really admire the strength of the wives and husbands that are at home waiting for their loved ones to come home. You not only need to be brave and strong for yourself but also for your significant other. You are awesome! I hope you have a fantabulous time celebrating his return!
I've been following this blog about a military wife that is a total sweetheart. I thought you might like reading as well: http://thingsidothinkwearseelovedream.blogspot.com/
