Where are my petite girls?

I work in a lab so I wear jeans every day (don't hate me!). Unfortunately I have to go to a wake tonight and when picking out something to wear today I realized I only have jeans, a pair of khakis, a pair of black "jeans" (they look decent, not super dressy but dressier then when I think of black jeans..they are more like twill), and 2 pairs of pants that go to suits. I used to have a pair of dressy gray pants but I don't know where they went.

Anywho, I need some dress pants. But I'm 5'1 and don't have a sewing machine. Where do you guys buy petite length pants (that has a waist around the hips rather than the real waste like a lot of the women's size petite pants I'm finding online)?

  • I have a couple of inches on you, but I love the newer "Premium" pants line at the Gap.  If you wear a small heel, the regular pants in ankle length may work, or they also sell them in petite, which I think is a little slimmer all around.

  • I've been shopping at lot more at the Limited for pants. (they have petites!!!) I also have a little trick that I used for a pair of pants that the hem came out of (NY&Co. pants, which I won't buy anymore b/c they fall apart) I have the double sided sticky tape that is mainly used for skin to clothing to hold it in place. I use the tape as a hem for those pants. Worked great and could work in a pinch if you couldn't find something in the correct length or the pants you already have.

Another great tip! I have some double sided tape from the wedding (somewhere).

  • I am 5'1 also and I usually can find "short" pants at Old Navy.  I had to go to JCPenney for petite pants also, but they have that higher waist that is kind of annoying, but hey I needed them for teaching!  Oh and Kohl's has petites also, although I never really like the fit of their pants.  Sorry I'm not much help! I usually end up getting my pants hemmed because I always like the ones that are just too long!

  • Kohls. I usually don't have to hem petite pants from there. I wish I could think of the brand. Gap might be ok too. I have had to hem some from there and some not. Everywhere else....hem.which reminds me I have to hem some jeans this weekend.
