We have had the same insurance for years through H's employer. He called me today and said a few of the people he works with went to the Dr b/c they did not feel good. With the new policy the Dr's office told them they would have to pay out of pocket for the visit and get the money back later. Only well checks or yearly exams you do not have to pay up front according to them.
To me it does not sound right. So, does anyone have insurance like this?? It just changed in January, so, I have not used it yet myself.
FWIW it is BCBS.
Re: Health Insurance?
I don't have insurance like that, but their are policies like that.
His company had to tell you that they were making a change.
The best thing you can do is contact his/your benefits person and find out what your new benefits are.
There are HRA & HSA accounts.
HRA is when his employer puts X amt of dollars in a health care account for him and you can use them for health care related expenses.
HSA is when they take pre-tax money from his check and deposit it into a health care account for you, and you can use that money for health care expenses (I think, I don't have much experience with HSA).
I'm going to PM you.
I don't think it's a BC/BS thing. We were on DH's insurance, and it was BC/BS, and had a similar setup, but it was because of the policies his company had with them. When we switched to it under my employer, that was no longer the case.
