Hi ladies - has anyone used the Battle Creek dog park lately? DH is heading out to go ice fishing for 4 days. Our dog is wicked smart and needs to be entertained or else she gets naughty so you will pay attention to her. When both of us are around, it is much easier to keep her occupied!! I've never brought our dog to that one before and am curious what people think of it.
DH does NOT like me to go to the Arlington/Arkwright park in St. Paul because my car got broken into last time I was there (and they got absolutely nothing because I took every single thing out of it before we went which was the most frustrating part) and our other favorite spot in South St. Paul now charges an annual fee.
Woodbury apparently has a new one too - anyone been there? We live on the east side so its not far to go to get to either Battle Creek or this one.
Re: Battle Creek dog park?
We live only a few blocks from Battle Creek and we never go there. We were not impressed. I think we may have parked on the wrong side of the park because it seemed like a hike and a half just to get there, but I've heard others say it was right there. Not sure. I don't have any other good reasons for not liking it other than it seemed hard to find the actual dog park.
I have a friend who goes to the one in Woodbury all the time and likes it a lot. It's worth checking out; although we haven't done so yet.
HTH!
I go to both of them all the time, and I love them both, although I honestly prefer the Battle Creek one. Here are the pros and cons of each:
Battle Creek pros: LOTS of room to run and play, fenced all the way around, more dogs, more wooded hiking area, easy to find, garbage cans and poop bag dispensers dispersed throughout.
Battle Creek cons: There have in the past been problems with break-ins in the parking lots, although I think this has been nipped in the bud. I would NOT keep anything valuable in your car though.
Woodbury Pros: wide open area, safe parking area, decent amount of space.
Woodbury cons: REALLY hard to find, not as many dogs, not fenced all the way around.
Really the Battle Creek one is easier to get to, it is a lot more area, the scenery is prettier, and there are more dogs. And I know pp mentioned it being a hike....it isn't, especially now that it is fenced in and the area is defined. If you park in the parking lot on the Upper Afton side, it is literally, 30 feet from the parking lot.
ETA: If you park on the lower afton side, it is a longer walk.
If you ever want to have a meet up, let me know!
