Questions about Goodyear

Do you think of Goodyear as a tire place or a place to get your car fixed (like Midas)?

Was having this discussion with someone and was curious what others think.

Re: Questions about Goodyear

  • I did NOT have a good car repair experience with a Midas so I will go on record and say that it can't get much worse than that service. (I got new brakes which squealed worse than they had before even after going back several times as they broke in as well as getting shocks that I quickly discovered that they had failed to attach in one position.  They're lucky I didn't get into an accident or have anything damaged on my vehicle.)  I personally would rather take it to my independent folks whom I trust to be straightforward and honest but that is just me.  Some folks prefer a national chain and I can respect that.

  • I got an oil change there a few years ago because I had a coupon. I wouldn't normally pick them to do it, though.
  • We do our oil changes there--we like them, have had good service, they are not pushy at all about other maintenance on the car (at our location anyway), and they are good about proving why they need to do something (like showing you your super dirty air filter).

Both of our cars are under warranty so we don't go to them for repairs because most will fall under warranty with the dealer.  I do have a friend who has a auto shop as well so I'm not sure what we would do with a non warranty item; probably price check and go with who is cheaper.
