When I was pregnant with Owen, I went on a quest everywhere to find non-alcoholic red wine. Finally found it at TJ's, bought two bottles, took two sips, and poured the rest down the sink. YUCK.
Tonight I was at the liquor store buying non-alcoholic champagne (which isn't bad if you get the right kind, especially in mimosas), and saw a different brand of non-alcoholic red wine. I asked the clerk if I had any hopes of it tasting like wine, and she said it was pretty popular. Since it's made by Sutter Home, I thought that maybe it would just taste like a cheap wine.
NOPE. Ever aerated, it tastes like grape juice. Bleah. I hate grape juice.
Good thing I only bought one bottle this time!
Re: Bleeeeecccchhh
If you're looking for something festive to drink, I like the Trader Joe's sparkling fruit juices. Blueberry is my favorite.
If you're looking to replicate the taste of wine, I think you're out of luck.
When I was in college someone accidentally bought non-alcoholic champagne to an engagement party. Disgusting!
I CAN'T WAIT until I can have a glass of pinot grigio!!!!
I am not a big red wine drinker but my friend brought over Fre Wine.... have you tried that yet? http://www.frewines.com/
That's what I bought, since their sparkling wine isn't bad...but I thought the red was terrible! Grape juice! Augh!
