So... this was my trip to court this morning...

And this is what I came home to after work tonight...

Two years ago, I had snow boots. They were black, with rubbery/plasticky outers, thick rubber soles, and faux fur lining. They were serviceable for about ten years. Two years ago, after putting in more than enouh time, they crapped out on me. The rubbery/plasticky stuff apparently dried out and got all cracked... so not weatherproof and therefore useless.
I was left with my Timberland hiking boots... not bad, but at ankle high, not exactly deep snow material either, though at least waterproof.

Last year we didn't have really bad or deep snow, so I didn't bother to replace the snow boots, and survived with the Timberlands.
Well, today I had court. I wore a brown skirt suit. And those Timberlands really can't go with a skirt suit. Or a pant suit, for that matter. So I wore these...

A fab Nordstrom purchase by me, but definitely not snow-worthy, with a very thin lining, non-waterproof stitching, and slippery smooth soles.
So... a-shopping I went, and though DSW's winter boot section looked pretty ravaged by the time I got there tonight, I found these warm, fuzzy, and weatherproofed wonders...

They're cute and totally snow-propriate!
Still not optimal with a suit, but not quite as crazy bad as the Timberlands would be. I feel like they're cute enough that I could get away with them on a really snowy day, when anyone looking could understand the necessity and not be freaked out by the clash of style.
Now I get to go test them out and shovel...

OMG, you're insane, but you made me literally laugh out loud.
Thanks, guys! Now I'm really gonna go find the shovel. E thinks he put it in the garage.

Those a really cute boots!
And, Rachel, you could always still wear them here in Texas. You'd fit right in with all the girls wearing the furry Uggs. Oh wait, you'd need to be wearing shorts or a short skirt with the Uggs to fit in here.
Amelia is going to be a big sister!
LOL, seriously? In Texas? This is more like it:
The place is shoveled, ad my feet were warm & dry the whole time. And so were my ankles - no snow creeping in!

Holy crow! No, we got about 3-4", I'd say. And it's stopped for now, though they're talking about more snow tomorrow.
The roads are clear now, just wet, which makes me happy. My appt to have the remote starter installed is tomorrow and there is no freaking way I'm not getting that thing installed. It's all that's been keeping me going as I shiver my way to work in the mornings.

love the boots, larissa!
we only have about an inch here, maybe a little more.
The Sand in My Snow Boots
Our tree just came down today; we don't do external decorations, which is probably a good thing considering what the weather's been so far.
I'd been thinking about wearing boots (and again, these are my first in 2 years) and changing, but then I think about days like tomorrow, when I've got 4 court cases in one day... even though they're all in the same courthouse and I theoretically could do it, I'm already carrying FOUR files to court, plus a purse. Plus likely a laptop. Adding shoes to that would suck.
Life was easier when I could carry a backpack. Backpacks are sensible and could carry all the files, the laptop, the shoes, and probably everything I need out of my purse. Who decided lawyers couldn't carry backpacks, damnit?!

Timeout!!!! Snow doesn't melt until APRIL?!?!?! WTF did we get ourselves into?
Lol! You guys might get lucky being south of us, and it will probably start melting around the end of Feb/early March. We got a freak snow storm in May last year. It happens!
