1st Year Gifts

Hey Ladies. I was wondering what you either got for your 1st anniversary or what you are giving your spouse. I know traditionally it's paper.

Re: 1st Year Gifts

  • Following the paper tradition, I gave H an album of my b-pics.  He got me beautiful earrings, totally not paper-related...and totally stunning!

  • I got my DH a new set of golf clubs, but it also counts for his bday which is 2 weeks after our anniversary as well as his valentines gift. I was thinking of giving him the paper showing what I got him, therefore going along with tradition, and then actually giving him his clubs on his bday.
  • MH is a comic book collector, and his favorite character  is Thor. Thor's arch-nemesis is Loki, the Norse God of Mischief (and also our kitty's name) and I located a copy of the first appearance of Loki in the Thor comics from 1962 on eBay. I thought it was a great way to tie in his love for comic collecting with something of value (both personal and monetary) and also the fact that we got our little furbaby this year. I'm so excited to give this to him, he has no idea!

OMG that's so sweet and thoughtful. I love gifts like that

  • I always feel like I am a terrible gift giver. I usually opt for functional over thoughtful, if that makes any sense. But I really felt like I scored with this one. haha
  • i had intentions of upholding the paper tradition. but when the gift cert for a tattoo session became too complicated, i trashed the idea. i ended up purchasing him some super fancy gaming headset that he never would spend the money on himself. he got me a chamilia charm bangle bracelet with a bride & groom charm, a glass stone in one of our wedding colors (light blue) and a little shoe (i have an extreme love for shoes-he hoped he could get a blue shoe, like my wedding shoes, but that wasn't an option so black shoe it was). so i guess we both ended up forgoing the paper tradition! haha. oops!
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • We're not exchanging gifts for our anniversary.  I think we're going to make a tradition out of going on vacation for our anniversary.  We're going to the hotel that we had our reception as a 1 year gift to each other.  I guess the receipt serves as paper!

  • We didn't do gifts either. I did pick up a card and wrote a love note in it for him, so I guess that counts as a paper gift. We mostly just wanted to make sure that we took time to be together and enjoy each other's company wothout anyone or anything else being a distraction.

  • We weren't going to do gifts but H said he got me something and then let me in on it beforehand so we got each other the same thing - lotto tickets.  It's paper and fun.  We each spent ten on the other's tickets and I won $5 and he won $20, so it was a win over all.

  • I don't think we are going to do gifts either. We love going on vacation and are going away back to Disney so that's just going to be our gift to each other I think.

  • We also are not doing gifts for each other. Our anniversary is today so we just went to dinner last night and will take a weekend trip at the end of the month. It might be a tradition each year.
