Fit Chicks Friday Check-in
How did your week go? Did you meet your goals for the week? Did you cave in on any cravings?

What are your plans for the weekend? Do you plan to take a day off? What about meals?
Re: Fit Chicks Friday Check-in
Ha ha, I did put the part about cravings because I ate probably too many Hot Tamales this week. Not a horrible thing to eat too many of, but I certainly didn't need them!
I worked out 4 days this week and my goal was 3 days so I'm happy with that. I did pretty well portion size wise so feeling good about that, too. I think what I need to go back to counting out the serving sizes of my snack. If I'm just eating directly out of the bag or box, I eat too many. Tonight for dinner is refrigerator clean-up. Tomorrow, I'm giving in and we're getting pizza.
I'm also taking tomorrow off since it's a pretty busy day. I'll probably go for a run with the dog Sunday. Sunday night is chicken, couscous and brussel sprouts.
I have to give myself a HUGE pat on the back because I did a really awesome job of sticking to my eating and exercise plan this week. I have even lost 5 pounds (which sounds like a lot for a week but is pretty typical for me during the first week of a new diet regimen - it will level off next week to much less). I also feel like I have really committed myself to finding things that I will enjoy eating as opposed to taking the easy way out and eating canned soup or yogurt for lunch every day. I just don't feel like I would be able to stick to that. And my portion sizes have been much more reasonable so I feel good about that too. And I have even allowed myself a treat everyday. Can you tell I am happy with the direction I am headed in? I am having lunch at Panera tomorrow and am looking forward to that. I have planned my meal so I know what I am allowing myself to eat and I am happy with my choices. I will also be roasting a turkey this weekend and making some healthy stuff from that so lunches and dinners next week should be a breeze.
I did five days of cardio this week and three days of strength training. That is always my goal and I almost always meet it. I take weekends off so no exercise plans there.
I failed miserably today on the food front. Started out okay with non-fat organic yogurt, orange juice, and a handful of Kashi cereal, but then went to Panera for lunch with Owen, and even though I ordered the vegetable pesto soup, I got it in a bread bowl (which I ate all of) and I finished it off with a cheese pastry and a mocha (nonfat and decaf, but still not the best idea).
I've also failed to do any yoga this week.
I suck.
I was what my students call an "epic fail." I had zero time to exercise, or I failed to make time, and I gave into so many cravings including a big piece of chocolate cake yesterday.
At my first post-pregnancy dr. appt I was 5 pound under my pre-pregnancy weight. Granted, I was bf then, but since that appt. I have gained 12 pounds!
It certainly sounds like you are off to an amazing start! You should be super proud!!!
I did Ok I guess. Not great though. I ate lunch out a few times because I didn't have enough leftovers from dinner the night before to bring good food to lunch. So I ended up with one day getting a bagel at the bagel shop and one day getting a Veggie Burger value meal from Burger King. I really need to do something different for lunches. The meals I make don't always make enough leftovers and I don't always want to double recipes I make either. I'm thinking I might try and make a separate sandwich or salad each week and just eat it every day for lunch. Then if we have dinner leftovers we can have leftovers friday night for dinner or something. In the meantime I bought some canned soup (*gag*) and tuna, so if I'm stuck for lunch, I can at least grab something from home that is somewhat healthier/cheaper. I also had candy on Thursday because I failed at bringing enough snacks to work.
Oh and I only worked out one day this week due to stupid period cramps and just being lazy. blah!
I did well counting calories though...even though I went over most days. LOL
Here is a good recipe for vegetarian taco salad, we had this week in case anyone is interested.

I tracked my food and exercise all week on Lose It and worked out 4 times. Food wise, I did okay. We had a few treats around, but I still managed to stay within my budget...I think. I am pretty lose with my Lose It use, as a tend to estimate things and find the closest match in their database, rather than entering my actual recipes. I think it keeps me accountable enough and doesn't make it too tedious to use that I end up getting frustrated. I did technically gain 2 lbs over the week, but I started my period yesterday so I think that is a pretty fair excuse. Ha!
We don't have any plans this weekend that could derail my goals, other than maybe going out for a drink tonight. My plan is to have 1 margarita, which I will factor into my calories for the day. Also making an apple pie today, so we'll see where that ends up! I planned on going for a run in tomorrow morning anyway, so these few treats will definitely motivate me to get up and going!
