Uugghhh!!

Okay so I just moved here from the mid-west with my husband and I'm trying to find a job.  If you know of any good websites or places hiring I'm trying to look in the Windham area but Portland would be okay too.  I currently live near the Oxford area but we are looking to move more toward Standish eventually.  Any help is much appreciated!

  • Jobsinme.com is probably the best place to start.

I've also found postings through Indeed.com where you put in what kind of position you're looking for and the zip code.

What kind of job are you looking for?

  • Maine.gov has a listing of job site resources that may be helpful. Good luck with your job search.

  • Thank you!  At this point I'm looking for pretty much anything.. I'm just about to turn 20 and I've only done a year in college cause my husband was in the army and we were moving around.  The only experience I have is in office work and in retail so not much experience..

Thanks everyone for the help also!

  • I'm sure there are a lot of folks using temp agencies now, but it could be a good opportunity for you to at least get some more experience and make some connections while you look for something more long term.

I haven't worked wiht any agencies here in Maine, but in the past I've worked with Manpower, Adecco, and others.  The nice thing is that you register with them all and as jobs come up, you can say yes or no to them.  (Of course, saying no all the time is a great way to not get offered more jobs, so you have to be careful!)  I have done some very long term work through temp agencies, along with very short term 1-2 day assignments.  It's nice to at least have something to do that brings in some cash, even if it isn't long term.

Also, as a plug for my company, you could see if TD Bank has anything open in our store (branch) locations around you.  We regularly hire young folks as tellers or call center employees, and it's a good company to get in at.  I've been there for just about 5 years and think they do right by us employees most of the time.  I would go to www.tdbank.com to start looking for what we have open.
