my house is a disaster

We left for the holidays on Christmas Eve.  I was mean about it but I wanted  Our house to be clean when we got home dammit.  And it was.  It sparkled. It smelled good. We walked in the door I felt relief.  Then the house exploded.  DH brought in the baskets of presents (mostly toys) our busted luggage etc.  Then the next day I bought groceries and ran errands and now my house is destroyed.  I have spent a good chunk of my day organizing the play room, sorting clean laundry and de-christmasing my house.  It's turned into what I call schitzo cleaning.  I will be cleaning my livingroom, put something in my kitchen, remember something I want done in there and clean there for a while.  The end result is that I cleaned for three hours and my house is still a disaster. Next year for christmas I am asking for a wife.  I am giving up for a while.

Re: my house is a disaster

  • I hear you. My frustration is with someone in my house who doesn't do a thorough job with anything and having to redo everything myself. Right now I am shovelling the driveway because snow has built up into huge packed down ridges. Like 6-8 inches of packed snow that I am trying to get rid of so I can drive on it properly and so it doesn't look horrible. Sorry, just made your vent my vent.

  • no worries.  I spent a whole day cleaning friday and it lookedlike i did nothing.  We worked for about an hour yesterday and nothing.  I had a nap this morning because i got that damn cold that's going around and DH surprised me by doing a bunch of work.   It will be done tomorow.  I hope.

  • My house looks like that all the time.  I say don't sweat it, it will get clean eventually.

  • We finally just finished putting the last of the christmas stuff in it's rightful place today.  then we had a leak in the room and it's a disaster again.  We had to move everything out of my craft area.  Yay more cleaning tomorrow.

  • I feel your frustration.  I'm trying to focus on keeping small areas up so I don't have to start all over.  I was doing really well and then I got this damn cold that prevented me from being able to do anything for a week.  I got my closet clean yesterday though.  It sounds small but it's such a relief to have everything organized in it's place and not having to search for something and to see nice folded piles instead of clumps of sweaters.  Now if only I could get the office sorted out.  Maybe next weekend.
  • I feel ya! We finally got the house back together and looking nice and orderly after putting away the Christmas decor...and now it's in complete disarray for the next week b/c they are replacing our floors. It's a total mess and it drives me crazy.
  • Three cheers for my husband!

He's laid off, there were no good jobs posted yesterday so I came home to a clean house!  Completely unprompted and unhinted at by me!  It's awesome.
