What kind of fabric is this?
And what should I use to clean it? This is my grandfather's old suitcase that I would love to clean up and restore. My mom suggested using Dreft on it. Any other suggestions?

Re: What kind of fabric is this?
It's most likely linen; looks like 20's-30's. Unfortunately, linen stains can be difficult to remove when left long-term.
Dry brush the fabric to remove dirt. Be careful with the moisture - unless it's a reproduction the case itself is going to be wood so you'll want to avoid too much moisture; just a damp rag is fine. Soap residue can yellow linen, so use very, very little and use something really mild (Dawn is ok). Once you've wet the fabric put the case in a well ventilated area with a fan to try it as quickly as possible.
