So I'm relaxing on the couch while the babe naps on me reading your awesome blog and holy moly lady, I'm super jealous of your photography skills! Your pics are incredible! I have a Canon Rebel and am just now getting over my kit lens. What lens are you using?
Re: Mandee
butting in
I just want to say 2 things.
1. I agree Mandee is amazing with her photography
and
2. I miss seeing you around here!
Hey MO! I've been lurking a lot but have sucked at posting. I go back to work at the beginning of February so I'll have more time to post then since you know, that's what I do instead of actual work
How is Sully doing?
aww, thanks!
I have two that I use on a regular basis. the first one is just the standard lens that came with my camera - 18-55mm with the adjustable f stop. the other one I've been using a LOT lately is my new baby that I got for Christmas - it's a fixed lens - it's a 50mm f1.4. it's really challenging to work with, but the results are so much better than the standard lens.
if you're thinking about getting a new lens, I would check out this post... she gives you the right type of lens to buy depending on what you want to photograph... very helpful!

I've been looking at the 50mm, both the f1.8 and f1.4. After reading a lot of reviews I'm leaning more towards the f1.4. Glad to know that your photos are with the f1.4! Helps my decision a bit
My dad gave me a 75-300mm f4.0/5.6 that he doesn't use anymore and it's a great lens but I'd like a lower f-stop. Plus it's way too much zoom for what I photograph...my main subject is Parker!
I just found that blog that other day when I was lurking on the Photog board on the bump. I want her photography skills! She is awesome!
that's so weird you say that... I was just browsing through better zoom lenses and the 75-300mm is number one on my list. I think the f4-5.6 f-stop is a good level for such a major zoom, and it'll be hard to find anything lower in a decent price range. that's going to be the one I put on my birthday wish list, for sure.
I was going to get the 50mm f1.8, only because it was cheaper and it's really not THAT big of a difference in aperature, but Sean surprised me and splurged on the f1.4.
