In laws coming over for dinner...

and it's stressing me out! The ONLY thing my FIL likes is steak, unmarinated then he coats his entire dinner in tobasco sauce. It's kinda gross to watch actually. We just moved last week so I would love to do something simple like enchiladas but I don't think that'll fly.

 So, I'm thinking I'll make this ? http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/12/filet-au-poivre/

Other than salad and roasted asparagus I'm really not sure what to make with it, it looks very rich.

  • Ugh, I hate picky eaters. I'm a vegetarian, so I'm no help.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • I say, expand his horizons a little bit  ;)  Make that dish with salad, veggie side, and maybe PW's crash hot potatoes? They're seriously my favorite.
  • Does your MIL make steak for every meal?  UGH that makes my stomach hurt thinking of eating steak for every meal.
  • Makes my arteries hurt too.

I think so. They are the most unhealthy eaters.

  • I am guessing they've already come over for dinner, but here's my thought, while I try to keep in mind the kind of food my guests like I also cook what I want to eat, or try out.  I make sure there are plenty of sides so that if they chose not to eat the main course or don't like they have other options.

Also he's a guest your house, even if he is family, he should be adult enough to eat what is being served him.  He can snack when he gets home if he's still hungry.

  • I think what you have is a a good amount, and good balance.  If you think you'll need more options, have an appetizer.
