Pain During Sex ??

Hey Ladies!!!

Kind of an odd first post, but just needing some feedback! :) My husband and I have been together for almost 7-years now. We haven't been using any kind of birth control methods for quite some time, and are NOT trying to get pregnent. We however are much more careful before & after my ovulation period. Anyways every now and then during sex it hurts only on my right side down low on my abdomine, my husband is pretty large and I guess I always just assume its that when this pain happens. We just try to avoid certain positions. WELL last night it hurt quite a bit and today I have been cramping occasionally, this is the 2nd time it has hurt and I have cramped in a week...... Google just says "your pregnant" when I do any type of search. Have any of you girls experienced anything similiar or know of anyone with anything similar? I dont have any other pregnancy symptoms and I'm (were) just not ready for it to be the big P  ;-) I plan on going to a doctor in a couple weeks for my yearly anyways, so I will ask questions there, but Im a little bit nervous to wait till then! Thanks for any feedback ahead of time!!!!!!!!!

Re: Pain During Sex ??

  • See a doc to be on the safe side. The cramping doesn't sound like a sexual position thing to me. Cramping after sex doesn't sound normal.

It also doesn't sound like a pregnancy symptom.

  • Well, sounds like you could have an ovarian cyst. I had the same experience in the past. Just go to the doctor, almost every woman gets them at some point in their life.
  • I'm thinking it could be an ovarian cyst. It's certainly something to talk to your doctor about. I do get cramping after sex during my luteal phase - but not the pain during sex like you are describing. Do you chart? Is the pain you're feeling during sex happening around ovulation?

FYI: I'm not sure what "much more careful" entails while you're ovulating, but if you're not using any kind of birth control, you're gambling big time with an unplanned pregnancy. Condoms are cheaper than kids.

  • I have had something similar happen, in the exact same spot (lower right abdomen).  I asked my doctor about it and after examining me she told me that I have a tilted uterus, which may bump into my right ovary during penetration (especially in certain positions).  She said it's not really a big deal.  : )
  • Well I don't have much for advice for you but just wanted to say thanks for posting. I was reading your post and the replies and I can relate and am benefiting from the advice too :) (I kindof thought it was just me too). I am in the same situation where it hurts sometimes when we have sex, mainly in certain positions (that we avoid too). To be honest it's really getting old that we can only do certain positions and I don't know about you but it affects our love life/relationship and I would love to get some answers too. But I've been hearing different things about this tilted uterus and I'm going to ask my doc about it too when I go in next week. Also, charting is a good idea, because like you it seems to affect me differently different times. So, I guess I'm just hear to say, yes me too. lol

I'll post more if I get any answers that may help. Thanks for everyone who posted too :)

  • ValandMat--if you do have a tilted uterus, your doctor might be able to give you tips on making certain positions more comfortable.  Mine did. : )
  • Thank you for posting. i have the exact same issue. Mine goes away for a really long time, and then it will come back. I asked my doctor and they said that there was nothing wrong with me...
