So, okay, I'm going to be a bridesmaid in a wedding this summer... and
it's my first time in the gig! Anyway, the bride is getting all our
dresses through a friend of hers who is a clothing designer. (She's
having this totally organic, local, community oriented wedding - I'm
super stoked)
ANYway, we get to design our own dresses, and I
don't even know where to begin! We know the dresses are going to be in a
jersey-like material, and that they're going to be hitting just above
the knees, but the rest is totally up to us. Now, jersey isn't exactly a
common material to use for bridesmaid dresses either, so... ugh. I
don't know where to look! All I know is that I want enough coverage so I
can wear a bra!
This is a small selection of what the designer
can do... but it's her younger, more hippyish line. I definitely want to
go more classical and, as someone with boobs, with more coverage!
LinkAny thoughts for the hourglass gal? Any website suggestions I can go to to look for inspiration?

Sounds like fun - maybe you could go to sewingpatterns.com and get some ideas from commercial patterns? Just a thought . . . .
This is what I was thinking.
Looking at different patters really could help.
I really like the sienna top but maybe instead of a halter back it could be done with two straps. For bottoms I think the last one Full A-Line would be both flattering as well as functional for summer, allow some air flow.
I think I'd pull out your favourite dresses from your closet and start from there. Pull together the elements you like from each.
Personally I think you look fabulous in a wide strap top with a deep V-neck like in your TTD photos. Some sort of waist detail like a belt or some sort of wrap thing is always great for a nice waist and I love a pencil skirt on an hourglass figure.
