So every year for the last 8 years, I've been popping into thrift and consignment stores after Christmas for toys. It seems that everyone cleans everything out after Christmas of their old toys and donate toys that they were less interested in. You wouldn't believe the scores I've gotten throughout the years! (I use toys for work too, which is why I've been at it for so long). This year I've gotten 2 Melissa and Doug toys (animal puzzle train and animal stacking blocks) for a couple bucks a piece, a wooden stand up busy box for $5, a huge, almost new train set for $5, oodles of books and other misc. toys.
Anyway...I wanted to ask you nesties...do you have any thrift/consignment shop recommendations?
Re: best thrift shops?
I don't often shop at thrift stores but I sell much of DD's outgrown items to Children's Orchard in Newington.
I would recommend the bag sales at Children's Orchard. Sign up for their email list and you'll get notified of their bag sales -- they happen 3 or 4 times a year. It happens on a Saturday morning and they put all the overstock clothes out in the parking lot in boxes sorted by size. When they say "go" everyone runs and grabs armfuls of whatever to stuff in their bags (which are provided by the store). Each bag is $5. It's a great way to get playclothes; I can easily get 10 to 15 items of clothing in a bag.
