did we talk resolutions & goals for new year?

I wasn't sure if we did a post on "what's your new year's resolution and goals" or not.

Mine are:

 1. eat less processed food and therefore make more than I already do home made.

2. Get both kids to eat exactly what we are eating for dinner (hence eating less processed foods)

3. Get my budget in control using Money (thanks Alicia!). But first I need to figure out how to use it.

4. Get our will done.

5. Create our first fruit and veggie garden.

Last year my resolution was to not let things bother me that I can't control (be less type A). I didn't realize how my dad getting sick was going to be the ultimate test of this. So now my ultimate resolution is to understand when something is really out of my control and to deal with it as healthy as I can.  And to appreciate what I have and the people in my life who make me happy...like my nesties!

Anyway, part of goal setting requires that you write them down to be more accountable. So write them down in public to be extra accountable!

Re: did we talk resolutions & goals for new year?

  • Lesa did a post right before New Year's -- http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/47143138.aspx

    1. At that time, I didn't have a resolution, but starting on 01/01 I began working out daily. My goal is to keep this up all year, and beyond!

    2. My next goal, which I will be starting today, ties into my first. I plan to track (even if it is just journaling) what I eat and drink every day. Initially, it is just to see my eating patterns, but hopefully it will enable me to make better choices as well. I'm using Sparkpeople.com and their food calculator is a great tool for determining calories/nutrition.

    3. Ultimately, even if it does not happen this year, I'd like to lose about 30 pounds. I think that with my first two goals, this goal should be attainable. But, I won't beat myself up if I don't get there in one year's time. Any weightloss will be better than where I am now. The most important thing is to be healthier!

  • I only have one. To make exercise and healthy eating a regular part of my life and my family's life. Benjamin is my ultimate motivation, as I want to set a good example for him and be the healthiest Mom I can possibly be.

  • Well I posted mine on FB:

    Gain weight

    Recycle less

    Keep Mel in diapers

All goals I can easily attain so I won't let myself down!

    BWAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!

Seriously, I can't set yearly goals.  I prefer to wake up every day and say "this is what I strive to do today".  Easier for me.

taking an art class of some kind, probably photography since i'm considering investing in a DSLR this year

making time for craft projects in general

more handmade birthday & holiday 2011 gifts (the cranberry liqueur and cinnamon bitters were very popular this year, irish cream is on it's 3rd year as a holiday fave)

working out more - i was on a good roll before thanksgiving and then got lazy (i have a gym in my building, no reason not to go there often!)

clean eating - started doing this last year and plan to continue

continue playing tourists in our own backyard - we've been doing this here in DC and it's something we didn't do enough our last few years in nyc

we may start looking to buy an apartment at the end of the year . . .

  • My #1 goal is to get healthy, mentally & physically.  I've been battling ppd and gained a lot of weight due to the ppd plus anti-depressant.  I'd like to lose weight, exercise more and find some friends/hobbies to get myself out of the house and feel like I have a life again (SAHM in a new state w/ no friends isn't so much fun). I wish I was still in RI so I could hang out with you ladies!

  • In no particular order:

    • it's Operation Whole Grain and Legume at our house--I'm aiming to up our intake BIG TIME this year.  We made great strides last year but this year is head on!
    • eat one veg. meal a week at least to cut back on red meat consumption.  Missed that one last year so this year it's on!
    • eat 95% organic...where we can afford it and help it
    • ties into ones above--further support local farmers and businesses
    • for me--strength and conditioning!  Pumped about this one!
    • get back on track with my photos--I have MONTHS just sitting on the computer that I need to get through...and I need to capture more.  My little baby isn't a baby anymore!
    • the continuing saga of organization! :D
    • continue to learn new things with Santino (my sewing machine for you non-FB friends)
    • lastly--tell the people in my life that I appreciate them and love them more often than I do now!
