• hi guys! just a sidenote: mum's the word on FB...we're not telling people really at this early point.

Tell us about the new job! I've caught snippets here and there, but I need more info!

It is in institutional research in NYC at a college that was recently upgraded from a community college. the name of the school makes me giggle but it is a state institution. Its a new position, and I anticipate doing a lot of survey design and data analysis. I hope it works out. Its not the location or quite the pay I'd hoped but at least its better than PA!

Are you excited to be expecting, or are you still not letting yourself believe it yet??

(I just can't get over how happy I am for you two)

thanks Sarah :) I alternate between excited and terrified. Our RE this morning was saying how he want back through the file and given her stim, C should have one, maybe two. Its sort of disbelief, coupled with too much time on the scary Dr. Google. I told C this situation is appropiate since she's been such a problem for a healthy patient for the past year, ha!

    imageMrsC968:
Are you guys still planning on moving at some point?

yup, weeknights starting next week. we're staying with my parents until the house sells as there is no way we can do two mortgages. We'll come to PA to our "country home" until it sells on the weekend.

    imageMrsAD:
Where in NJ are you moving to? (I don't remember.)

my parents live off Exit 153 (which should give you a good idea, west side of the exit). We'll probably look in the middle of that town (the cheaper side is a little seedy, but we can't afford their neighborhood since its one of the most affordable (still high but affordable by NNJ standards) towns in the area that is also on a train line for me (train towns tend to be $$$ or really crappy).

    imagemainezilla:
What will be the first piece of baby stuff you buy??

i got halloween and thanksgiving onsies on clearance for $3 each recently (shh, don't tell..I'm not suppossed to be buying anything.

  • Will you & C be finding out the sex of the babies?

AHHHHH Babies!!!! Big Smile WAHOOOO!!!!! I love that this is happening for you guys!

And I'll be back 'cause I'm putting together a standard list of questions for everyone to answer when it is their day! :)

  • So you really are having multiples? That's so fun! Tell us more! Big Smile

  • What is your favorite food?

Who will be the first family member you will tell about your new bundles of joy to?

Do you plan on buying a house before or after the babies are born (or did you already buy a house?)

do you plan on coming out to CA anytime this year?

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • When will you tell family about the babies? Did they even know you 2 were working on getting pregnant?

Where does C work (like the town/state)? How far is your commute to work now? How far will it be from your parents to your new job?

  • Since I'm pretty sure you make them a lot, what is better in blondies - dark brown sugar or light brown sugar?
    imageBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • my advance apologies for being pregnancy focused today. i can't really think about much else. like, um, the job i am leaving in 4 days and have a ton to do for.

    imagePaige&Jeff:

Will you & C be finding out the sex of the babies?

yes, but we don't plan to tell people IRL before they're born

    imageRodneysWife:
So you really are having multiples? That's so fun! Tell us more! Big Smile
as of now!! She's only 6w4d so a lot can change in the next few weeks. appearently as many as half of triplet pregnancies spontanously reduce to 1 or 2 by 9 weeks. So time will tell i guess? It is exciting but scary. Triplets in general are scary (not just the infant part, but the high pregnacy loss and mortality rates).

hmm. I love food. Fav entree, probably scallop curry (think indian, but with scallops)

We'll probably tell my parents first. I might tell my brother soon-ish since he's having a rough time right now and in some weird way I think it might be good for gim.

I HOPE to buy a new house before any babies come but it all depends on when our current house sells.

There is a SMALL chance we'll go see my cousins who moved out there (an hour or so from SF) last yr, but I'm not sure at this point!

When will you tell family about the babies? Did they even know you 2 were working on getting pregnant?

Where does C work (like the town/state)? How far is your commute to work now? How far will it be from your parents to your new job?

We don't plan to tell until 13 or 14 weeks. If C is sick though we might have to tell my parents, logistically. My parents know in vague terms (just that C's ovaries suck, they don't know we've "tried"); hers do not know AT ALL.

C works in northern NJ, about 5 miles from the upstate NY border. Its about 20 minutes from my parents house (another reason we'll look in that general area to live).

My commute now is about 70 min door to door (45 min on the train) allowing for waiting time. I can drive it in 40, but that's not realistic in traffic (eg, when I drive to work Wed, it will take me 75 minutes on backroads, but I'll make it home from my board meeting in under 40..) From my parents to the new job I think it will be about an hour (very similar set up, set up, slightly shorter train ride. There isn't a cold chance in hell I would drive to work in NYC though. One perk is if the trains are screwed up I can take a bus home, which has traffic issues, but is better than hanging out in NY all evening (sort of.)).

I prefer dark brown sugar as a general rule :)

  • Let's talk about your new job some more! I'm so excited to know someone in the field that I didn't meet through work. Are there any specific state or nationwide initiatives you are hoping to work with? Things you are hoping to research?

P.S. If you ever travel to an Illinois IR event, let me know. There is a decent chance that I will be there.

  • becky, I haven't! I actually just read your FB message the other day (kind of fell off the burner when we left for the holidays). I am hoping to get to it this week! I actually found some black fabric at home, so just need to decide how exactly to patch it. Thanks for the ideas :)

I haven't really thought too much about the pup to be honest. I assume we'll take him to day care at least once/week once the kid(s) come...I'm hoping he'll adjust well having babies from birth. He's been good with kids in general, but I don't know day to day. One things we MUST fix is his complete lack of recall. He only comes for food. He followed around my cousin's toddler at Thanksgiving eating the crumbs...

Jo, I'm hoping to get to work with student data on retention, etc. My dissertation proposal is on the impact of student loans on choice of major, so its really my "field". This school just recently became a college, so I think I'll have some opportunities. I'll let you know about conferences - I don't know what kind of money I'll have, but I'd like to go to something next year!

  • Does the strong possibility of multiples put a wrench in your stroller shopping? (I know how kind of obsessed you have been about a stroller..hehe)

What are you most looking forward to about moving? Least?

I may have missed this, but did you finish your degree (an Ed.D., right?)?

What accomplishment/achievement are you most proud of?

If I gave you $50,000 and told you to pick one charitable group to give it to, who would you choose?

What would your dream job if you had to work but didn't have to worry about money?

  • Ok here are some that I have for everyone to answer when it is their day but you have already answered some so skip those. :)

    Name?

    Birthdate? And age?

    Favorite Food?

    Favorite Color?

    Favorite thing about yourself?

    Least favorite thing about yourself?

    Favorite Season and why?

What are you most looking forward to in 2011?

What do you think it is about the ladies on this board that make us all keep coming back?

  • Great questions and answers so far!

Do you think you'll end up playing rugby next season? Or are you really going to retire?

Would you ever coach younger gals or the college team where you'll be working (if they have one!)?

I know it's early, but do you and C have any special plans for Valentine's Day in the works?

  • What are you most looking forward to about moving? living full time with C Least? in the short term, staying with my parents. in the longer term, traffic in NJ.

I may have missed this, but did you finish your degree (an Ed.D., right?)? no...I'm on dissertation status...EdD this fall or next spring hopefully.

What accomplishment/achievement are you most proud of? hmm...I am really well respected at work, which I think is cool since I've only been here 3 yrs. I heard through the grapevine the plan was for me to replace my boss without openning the position up to others if he left (he was up for a VP position on campus earlier this year, but didn't get it). I also am proud I did all my EdD coursework in 2 yrs while working full time.

If I gave you $50,000 and told you to pick one charitable group to give it to, who would you choose? prob my team, but that's not exactly "charity" in most people's minds. It is a 501(c)3 though :) I would also consider March of Dimes.

What would your dream job if you had to work but didn't have to worry about money? I think I'd like to be a HS counselor for at-risk students.

What do you think it is about the ladies on this board that make us all keep coming back? because the ladies are awesome :)

Do you think you'll end up playing rugby next season? this spring, I hope I can work it out for home games (which means I somehow need to get to practice once/week, which is complex and depends on if C is coaching) Or are you really going to retire? after this spring, yes, though I am sad about it. I don't want to play for my old NJ club (or anything but its a committment/travel/attitiude thing) and its really not possible with kids anyway Would you ever coach younger gals or the college team where you'll be working (if they have one!)? well the school I'm moving to doesn't have a team, but I'd really consider coachign HS or college. I am an asst coach at a college now and am really sad to leave them. They're amazing (in general, only a couple are amazing athletes, hah!) I know it's early, but do you and C have any special plans for Valentine's Day in the works? no, definately not :)
