Re: Weekly Menus?
I wish I could make up a weekly menu but schedule is so hectic. For example:
Tonight - probably left overs since I am only home for a few minutes before I go see my cousin sworn in as sergeant of police.
Tomorrow - dinner with a friend at the Standard
Wednesday - something quick since I'll be famished after my hair appt probably soup
Thursday - something light, maybe a salad, before zumba
Friday - probably take out with the family
This is sad lol.
Here's ours:
M- roasted chicken with sweet potato fries and broccoli
T- pork chops with pierogies and garlic spinach
W- spaghetti with meat sauce and salad
T- chicken enchiladas and rice
F- tilapia with corn relish
S- out to dinner
I love new ideas... its so hard with my 2 jobs to come up with a weekly meal plan.
I have to work Mon, Tues and Fri this week job #2 so I am not even home to eat so I usually just grab a lean cuisine or sandwich.
for the rest of the days I know I want tacos, stew in the crockpot (sunday), BBQ pork chops (Saturday), Then I have 1 day I am not sure of so that will probably be pasta or some sort.
I always say I am going to plan a menu but then I get too busy and/or lazy. I came up with a system that seems to work fairly well. On Friday nights or Saturday mornings I look at the online sale ads to get inspiration and then make the menu for the upcoming week. To keep it simple, I usually do the same type of food on the same day every week.
For example:
Sunday - Home Cookin'/Comfort Food - meatloaf, roasted chicken etc.
Monday - Crock Pot - Mondays are always extra tiring so I like to have dinner ready when I get home.
Tuesday - Mexican
Wednesday - Italian
Thursday - Chinese - you can stir fry almost anything!
Friday - Fish or Brinner depending on my mood
Saturday - Wild Card - a good night for trying something new
I basically never am sure when I am going to get home so it's hard to plan a perfect menu. We are even more disorganzied with meals right now as I am on the South Beach Diet (phase 1) and obviously DH and the little one are not.
One thing I always do is make one big dish on Sunday that can serve as a pinch-hitter if I am running late (big pot of chicken noodle soup, lasagna, scalloped potatoes and ham) and/or make a big pot of sauce and meatballs and feeze them in one meal portions. That said, this was this week"

T - Ham and scalloped potatoes for DH, Chicken and veggies for me
