Melozia

I remember you going for laser hair removal.

Have you completed the treatments? How many times did you? Did it hurt? Did it work? How much did it cost?

I am thinking about it.

Re: Melozia

  • I havent done this and I'm not her haha but I am signed up to this website called Groupon.com and they always have laser hair removal deals where you can buy 6 sessions for like $80 CAD and things like that. Definitely check it out there before investing a few hundred dollars.
  • lol Anyone willing to take $13/session I wouldn't let near me with a laser!
  • I *thought* I was done about 6 months ago, but some pesky hairs have popped up so I made an appointment for next week to zap 'em! I can't recall the name of the specific type of laser they use but it's not the old kind, it's been around for about 5 years or so.

So far, I've gone for 8 treatments (each one lasts about 10 minutes). I pay $165/session and that covers laser treatments for my entire lower face (chin/jawline/upper lip/neck). I know it sounds pricey but, because you pay each session, and there is no set schedule that you have to follow, you can stretch it out so it's not such a whollop to the wallet.

It didn't hurt (take that with a grain of salt as I am covered in tattoos lol) but it felt like being snapped with an elastic band on the face. It smells gross, like burning hair so be prepared for that.

One thing I would suggest is taking a Tylenol or Advil before your treatment. Afterwards (especially after the first one) your face is quite raw feeling and a little tender. Go for a consult first. Luckily (???) my facial hair was dark so I was a great candidate for it, but my girlfriend has very light facial hair and it dioesn't work on that (dark hair attracts the laser, blonde doesn't).

Beauty is that, once a particular area is lasered, the hair that is actively growing there will never grow back. Any re-growth is new or previously dormant folicles.

    Hope that helps :)

  • Thank you, that helps a lot.

I am pretty sure I am going to go ahead and go to a consult.

  • No problem. I hope it works out for you! I haven't regretted having it done, at all. I love the way my skin looks and feels. It even cleared up my skin (I used to get periodic breakouts). I am just sorry I didn't have it done years ago!
