Salad bar buffet?
Does it exist?
On the west coast there is Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation (souplantation.com), which is my most favorite place to go, EVER.
I miss it. Please tell me there is something similar in NY?

Finally! A Married Bio!!
I don't think we have anything quite like that, but there are lots of deli/corner store type places, especially around mid-town, where you can get a great special-made salad or good soups, and often there are lots of other buffet-ish dishes you can get to go. Hale and Hearty Soups is yummy, Cosi is a chain but I like it and they have soups, salads and sandwiches and are all over the city.
Near where I live on 6th Ave between 14th and 18th there are at least 3 places like this, all that have an area to actually sit and eat as well, so just keep your eye out near where you live/work and you might find something that fills the niche, even if it's not quite the same.
