My sister's baby shower

Just wanted to share the fun thing I am doing for my sister's shower in March.  She is doing a Dr. Seuss nursery so I am doing some Dr. Seuss stuff for the shower.  For her cake topper I am having Thing 1 and Thing 2 made on etsy, but the seller is also going to make me a baby Thing 3.  I think it is going to be so freaking cute!  I am so excited!!!!

My older sister usually takes over when I try to plan family parties, but (unfortunately) she broke her arm so it seems she is actually leaving this one all to me!  I love to plan so I am excited to actually be able to do it myself!

If anyone has random Dr. Seuss shower ideas to share I would love to hear them!

Re: My sister's baby shower

  • "Oh! The Places You'll Go" by Dr. Seuss is one of my favs, and it's my go to book for baby showers lol. It's got some imagery you can work with too.

Oh, and if you haven't thought of this already, you can ask the guests to bring their favorite Dr. Seuss book as a gift to start the baby's book shelf.

  • I've never planned a baby shower, but the first thing I thought of for Dr. Deuss is green eggs and ham - may be a little odd for a shower but maybe there is something you can do there?

I love this idea and the invitation idea posted is adorable too. I found a blog with green eggs and ham cupcakes and you could do a Cat in the Hat wish hat for good wishes for the mother to be. I can't wait to hear updates on the baby shower planning!

  • I don't have anything to add, but just wanted to say that I LOVE the idea of everyone bringing their favorite Dr. Seuss book!

    Ditto!

I haven't been to many baby showers, but I recall games being played, and I know this is lame, but pin the hat on the Cat? Blue and Red napkins.

Thing 1 and Thing 2 relay races - make a red team and blue team and have them do something like each person has to unclothe a baby doll, change a diaper and reclothe for the next teammate

Our highschool has a fundraiser themed donut eating contest and one year our team was Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2.  You could dress up as such?! haha.  I actually just posted a pic on FB of us:
