What is your favorite recipe to make?
Are you reading any books right now...if so, what?
morning!!
what is Simon's favorite trick?
Are you training for anything?
That I'm good at being a mom. I was so nervous - I didn't even know how to change a diaper and I was never a "kid" person, but most things are just coming naturally. I'm such a planner, but I've been able to be laid back. Also, watching P change into a little boy. We keep staring at him lately and wonder where the baby went.

In the summer, I love to make a black bean, corn and avacado salad with a garlic lime dressing, but I prefer to use fresh tomatoes and now just isn't the time!
I am sadly not reading anything for fun right now. I have a couple of things I downloaded for my kindle but don't get the free time often. I'm trying to take advantage of getting the classics for free, so I'll be reading things like The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

morning!! hi!
what is Simon's favorite trick? Simon really enjoys cleaning off the high chair but I guess that's not a "trick." He certainly can't catch anything to save his life. He can pretty much take himself for a walk, though. The other day, the gate wasn't latched properly so Simon was able to get out, but he just walked down to visit the neighbors who have the great dane, and then came back to the front porch, sat down and barked. Nothing else fun; we've only taught him boring things like "off," "down," etc. He does know not to take food from fingers (only palm) which tends to impress people. The reason for that is so he doesn't grab food out of P's hands. He also is afraid to swim, but thinks he's a lifeguard.
Are you training for anything? I signed up for the Phillies 5k in March, and I may attempt to run Broad Street this spring. I've been wanting to do that for about 10 years now but have problems keeping up my training in the winter.

The semester starts next week, and I will be teaching one section of human anatomy lab (this was the course I ran and taught both lectures and lab the past two spring semesters, but I always knew I was temporary until the prof who is taking over had room in her schedule). So that's technically new since she's teaching it from a different perspective - she's a mammalogist whereas I'm a physiologist.
I'm also teaching a lab of second semester intro biology (genetics). So only a half schedule this time around.

Yay, Becky!
Do you still call P Sprout?
Are you planning any trips to Baltimore in the near future? (Queso dip is in your future if you are!)
Any advice on having a little boy?

Do you have a favorite blog you follow/read?
Name?
Birthdate? And age?
Favorite Food?
Favorite Color?
Favorite thing about yourself?
Least favorite thing about yourself?
Favorite Season and why?
What are you most looking forward to in 2011?
What do you think it is about the ladies on this board that make us all keep coming back?
and special for you what has been your favorite age with P? Are you still looking for a job? How is the search going?
What isn't?
Seriously, I can't really narrow that down. Dessert is definitely my weakness. I guess chocolate cake with buttercream icing would be the first thing I'd go for if there was a huge dessert selection. Or almost anything with chocolate and peanut butter!

Yay, Becky!
Do you still call P Sprout? Not really. We call him "Bucket" which is shortened from "fussbucket" which was a joke since he's generally such a laid back, easy going kid. Bucket stuck in large part because my MIL hates it, and we thought that was funny.
Are you planning any trips to Baltimore in the near future? (Queso dip is in your future if you are!) I definitely need to; my ex-boss is very upset that he hasn't met P yet! I'm thinking I could arrange something when a certain someone is on maternity leave (and no queso required, although we could get takeout!).
Any advice on having a little boy?
Be prepared to encourage all interests but don't be surprised if he is naturally attracted to trucks and blocks and other "boy" things. Although maybe part of that is because I was also attracted to those things, ha! Also be prepared to never, ever sit still ever again and to catch him when he falls, because if he's anything like mine, he'll think he's a stunt double. And I firmly believe that little boys are genetically predisposed to thinking body sounds are funny. Although I'm sure a lot of these things could be said for little girls, too

I check Pioneer Woman, several quilting and sewing blogs, Young House Love daily. I also follow Brendan's cousin's blog - she works in insurance by day but teaches group fitness on nights and weekends. I check in on some blogs of ladies around here on a somewhat regular basis (but since I "talk" to you almost daily, I figure I keep up pretty well).

Name? Becky (short for Rebecca)
Birthdate? July 14 And age? 32
Favorite Food? sushi
Favorite Color? I don't really have one - don't want to stifle the creativity w/ my quilt projects!
Favorite thing about yourself? That I'm (mostly) ok with being me
Least favorite thing about yourself? I wish I could get more organized (with home stuff) - I lack motivation in that area
Favorite Season and why? I really like fall - I like apple cider and apple cider donuts!
What are you most looking forward to in 2011? Figuring out what I'm doing about work
What do you think it is about the ladies on this board that make us all keep coming back?I think that most of us started here during wedding planning - I know I came here to talk because I didn't want to drive the people around me crazy with the planning details. I think we just developed friendships and trust and have been through ups and downs together, even though we haven't all met in person.
and special for you what has been your favorite age with P? Whatever age he currently is! Whenever I think "wow, I'm really going to miss this stage" he does something amazing that makes it ok that he's growing and changing.
Are you still looking for a job? How is the search going? I think I'm going to write a separate post for this today

Blog
Do you have any vacations plans for 2011? Only to visit my parents in ME. Maybe a small (weekend) baseball trip, but unless I am offered a job, we're on a very strict budget right now.
What is your favorite things about where you live? Least favorite? Most favorite - it's "home" and I have a lot of memories and a lot of family and friends. As far as my actual neighborhood/street, my neighbors are amazing. There are a ton of kids, everyone is friendly, and when we were at my ILs for a few days during Christmas, it snowed and someone plowed our driveway and sidewalks for us.
Least favorite - I know it's not the highest cost of living anywhere, but I wish it were a little more affordable. And as far as the neighborhood goes, even though we're only a couple of miles from the city, there is no easy way to get downtown and it takes forever.
*edit* there is a train within walking distance that takes about 30 min, but they only run 1x hour off peak
Would you like to have more children? Yes, but we need to wait for me to get a job and/or B to finish grad school. So we may consider TTC at the end of the year. In a perfect world, I'd like 3 but 2 may be what we decide to try for.

I would like to find a FT job. I love working parttime, but adjunct profs don't make a lot of money (my current institution hasn't given a pay raise to adjuncts in at least 14 years and they pay more than most) and we can't really afford to have more kids unless my work situation changes.
