soooo snow day in atlanta

The city of Atlanta is shut down. 4 inches of snow has created mass chaos that has now turned into ice chaos. Yesterday everything was closed, today it's worse. I got a freebie snowday yesterday but today I'm at work getting stuff done since I live/work in the same building. One of the few reasons it stinks to live/work in the same building. Alas since my boss can't come in at least I look like a hero of sorts getting stuff done.

Re: soooo snow day in atlanta

  • Ewww. I can't imagine working/living in the same building. I hated living close to where I worked, but that would be way too close for comfort.

I'm hoping for a snow day tomorrow, but we're expecting almost a foot. I miss living in the South.

  • I used to have a 2 hour commute each way in heavy traffic. Being this close has allowed me to actually have a life again. It's usually pretty sweet, except on snow days.

  • I'm actually much more productive when I'm in the office alone.  I wouldn't mind going in and getting my desk cleared.

  • Definitely makes sense.

Looks like our classes that were supposed to start tomorrow have been cancelled preemptively. Getting that much closer to a snow day!

  • Ugh I hate snow. We just got 35cm over the weekend and are still trying to shovel out way out. To make it worse, we hit a cold snap and are supposed to get another 30 cm over the next couple days. With the drifts, the snow is almost up to my neck! I think I'll move to somewhere warm now. Mexico looks promising lol.

  • DonnaKatherine- I can not imagine having to deal with that much snow. That is amazing.

  • We are supposed to get a big storm tomorrow.  I didn't want to take any chances so I have already put in for the day off.  I believe were are supposed to get 8-12 inches.  Who knows.  I know our Chattanooga office was closed yesterday and had a late opening today due to the weather. However here in Portland, it takes a miracle to get our office to close early or not even open at all.  In the 10 years I have worked here, We have only had one day where they have actually not opened at all. We have probably had about 5-6 delayed openings or closing early. I guess that is one of the downfalls of living in Maine.  You are expected to drive in the snow.

  • It's snowing today here, but it's Wisconsin.

eeeeva, how are we going to have this playoff game with your city shut down?

  • It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the snow we have to deal with, nooo now we have a cold snap! Our highs for the next week are somewhere in the -25c to -32c range and then more snow.

    Jeebus.... I'm officially hibernating.
