Stupid Contact Question

This is the first time I'll be ordering contacts while having vision insurance.  I have a $120 contact lens allowance on my insurance.  Will places like Walmart bill the insurance?  I know 1800 contacts says I have to submit it myself and I don't know how to do that.

Re: Stupid Contact Question

  • Walmart does take insurance and so other places like Target, Sears Optical (found they have awesome prices), Lens Crafters, etc.  But if 1800 contacts has a better price, don't be scared about filing your own insurance claim.  You can call your insurance company to get the exact process.  But usually you just need to fill out a form and include your receipt and maybe a copy of your prescription.  I also know that Costco doesn't take insurance, but their price was actually lower than what we would have paid out-of-pocket with our insurance.  So if you have a membership it might be worth looking into.
  • In the past I have ordered my contacts through my eye doctor, and the cost for one year's worth of contacts was less than my allowance. They filed the claim for me so I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.
