So we are having a house warming later this month. It is a Saturday evening thing and we will have about 50 adults with 15 or so kids (6 months to 10 years) I am doing a taco buffet type of thing with 2 different meats (I think I finally decided on shreeded brisket in a spicy tomato sauce and grilled chicken), grilled veggies, and all the toppings including guac, sour cream, cheese, pico etc.
I am also doing soda, and making margaritas and a white sangria.
Ideas for apps and dessert? Something that isn't to tricky to eat (both of these things are going to end up being passed I think). I was thinking little flans but know so many people who don't like it and for apps all I can think of it guac and pico both of which will already be on the taco bar.
Re: Menu Help for Housewarming
grilled shrimp skewers marinated in lime/chipotle marinade
Grilled jalepeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese, crab meat and green onion
Lime or mango sorbet served in little cups? I don't really eat desserts
Queso and chips, seven layer dip, black bean and corn salsa.
There's some good ideas for Mexican inspired desserts on allrecipes, you could do a tres leches cake, Mexican wedding cookies, churros, or ice cream with dulce de leche.
I really wanted to do churros but find them only yummy fresh and the idea of standing over the deep fryer with my guests all around didn't sound fun.
We did hire someone to help "bus" and re-fill food etc maybe I can see if she would be willing to deep fry some...
I am also trying to find a veggie bean recipe since mine is filled with lots of pork product and I have quite a few vegetarian/vegans coming.
