In your experience, what costs more to insure, an SUV or car?

I know I should just call my agent, but every time I call them they want to offer me life insurance and 15 other things. 

I'm just wondering when we upgrade my car will my insurance sky rocket.

    I know a few years ago when I sold my caviler and bought my blazer there was not much of a difference in cost of insurance.  I would say that it was less then $100 per 6 months.

    My husband and I used to have two cars, then his broke down and he decided not to repair it. We weren't planning on getting an SUV to replace it but his boss gave him a great deal on his old Land Rover, so we bought that. I expected our insurance to sky rocket, but it really didn't make much of a difference. I was really surprised.

    I found a thing on the state farm website with in my policy page where I can get quotes on different cars. I quoted a 4runner and it was about $30 less/6mth.. so yay I guess.. but that gas will more then make up for it. =/  oh well.

    With us it was less about Car vs. SUV and more about the fact the the SUV was worth $$, so the premium was a tad higher.

    I don't know specifically, but when I got my SUV about 2 years ago I know there wasn't a big difference.  GL!

    Mine went down when I got my SUV, and I have State Farm as well.

    Quotes for cars vs SUVs will vary on the year, make, and model in addition to any extra safety features.  Factors such as safety ratings and theft rates can be factored in along with your driving record, age, and credit ratings.  Jena, your best bet will be to experiment with different car and SUV quotes to get what you are looking for.
