Saw my first 3-D movie....

and really enjoyed it! For date night on Friday DH and I saw Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 3D. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was pretty darn cool :)

Just sayin'....

Re: Saw my first 3-D movie....

  • I saw Shrek in 3d and I wasn't that impressed- it kind of gave me a headache.

I saw some 3d movie at an IMAX theatre as a kid and the 3d technology then was way better. It was a boring documentary on fish and all I remember is feeling like the fish were all around me- I kept putting my hand out and revelling in the feeling that my hand was going right through the fish. That could just be the difference between IMAX and a regular theatre, though. Or I just remember it as being way cooler than it was.

  • annabelle I find if it's done well (Avatar, Narnia, etc) then it really adds to the movie.  When it's done just because like a lot of movies these days it seems pointless and ends up being disappointing.  I didn't see Shrek 3D but watching the regular version, I can't see where 3D would have added to the movie at all other then to say it was in 3D.

I sincerely hope not EVERY movie becomes 3D just because they can.

  • I know. I've heard some complaints about some movies just doing it for the sake of it, which I could see would take away from the movie itself. But, for better or worse, I could see this being the future of movie and TV.
  • My husband and I were talking about that, too- that 3d will be the new standard. What's the point in watching a romantic comedy in 3d? It seems pointless... but with 3d TVs coming out it will be expected soon I'm sure. Silly.

  • I took my sister to see  the Hannah Montana Concert in 3D and it was really cool, stuff seemed like it was right in front of me.  My mom and I went to see Toy Story 3 in 3D and I honestly couldn't even tell.  I was very disappointed.

I suppose it will help get our spouses into the theatres when they realize romantic usually includes sex scenes and in 3D that equals breasts coming towards you.  Which will freak me out more then impress me.  And probably make us all glad male frontal nudity never became a common occurance in the movies.

Haha, this is awesome. My H would totally be game for more romantic comedies then.
