Hello Ladies!!
I am relocating to the Austin area with my 8 yr old from Cincy in the Spring..I just now have started my search for apts and am looking at schools..Can you ladies give me any suggestions on places..I will be working off of hwy 290 at a local school. I am also looking to put my son in football and in competitive year round swimming as he does those now so again any suggestions would be great..Pretty much any information would be great as this is sooo completely new and exciting for me. Thanks!!
Re: New to Austin help??
My brother coaches a competitive year round swim team, but he's in a southern suburb of Austin that would likely be very out of your way!
Some of the teams his team competes again are: Austin Elite Swimming, Longhorn Aquatics, and Lost Creek Aquatics. Sorry, I don't remember the names of any others, but I bet you'd be able to find more options on their website.

Lake Travis school district has won the state championship for 4a football 4 years in a row! It is a good school district too
It wont be the closest to your job though

If you're looking South, Eanes ISD gets high ratings.
I also think Bowie is a pretty good school, with great feeder schools in elementary and middle if you're in the right neighborhood.

Ditto. There's an 8 mile gap between Hwy 290 E and Hwy 290 W, with 290W being SW Austin and 290E being NE Austin. If you're south, maybe look around the Monterrey Oaks area. There's a few complexes there that are nice, in good areas and accessible to everything you need, including both major highways.
Before you decide an area you will want to figure out which part of town you are working. Like purdue said 290 pretty much runs from one side of town to the other. And if you live in Round Rock you could have atleast a 45 min commute or longer. I can imagine that with your childrens busy schedule the shorter the drive time the better. The main North and South travel roads are Mopac and I-35 and during peak travel times they are packed.
Im sure you dont want to put your place of employment on here, but if you google it and maybe find the closest major road we can help a little more for whats around there.
Hope this helps!
