Fit Chicks Monday Check-in
Hey ladies! Hope you all had a great weekend! Tell me about what you did and what your plans/goals/meal ideas are for this week.
I was going to take Saturday off for exercise, but ended up doing Jillian 30DS, partially because I felt I need to earn my pizza/wine/movie night and partially because I needed to blow off some steam or I was going to throat punch DH. That's a whole other story though.
Sunday I went for a run after enjoying some Gelato Fiasco which is the first time I've had any type of ice cream since not being dairy free anymore. Mmmmmmmm....so good. Coffee and Donuts and Maine Mud Pie. Nolan even had his first taste of Sorbetto from the nice lady behind the counter.

Last night we had ground turkey mini-meatloaves for dinner with steamed kale and mashed potatoes.
Exercise for this week: tonight - clean, run for 20 min., do 20 min. of a DVD. Rest of the week, I will take one day off and plan to run 2 of the other days and one day of Jillian.
Meal ideas: tonight is homemade sweet and sour chicken with veggies over brown rice and a veggie egg roll. Tomorrow is chicken, brussel sprouts and couscous. I have NO IDEA for the rest of the week. I didn't do grocery shopping this weekend like I should have.
Re: Fit Chicks Monday Check-in
I exercised on Saturday for a while and ate pretty healthy this weekend- I didn't have anything outrageous and refrained from baking/ eating baked goods.
No idea for this week- I have some leftover veggies that I'll probably eat with egg whites tonight... and then who knows for T/W. Thursday I'm eating out because I'm taking a jewelry class.
Unfortunately, the only night I could make it to the gym would be Wednesday and we're getting a big storm. I might motivate to do a DVD workout one of the nights though.
Annie, I just found this...drink you wine all you want...lol

I went for a run on Sunday, but ate a few not so healthy foods this weekend, like a lot of frozen yogurt with hot fudge (could have been full fat ice cream tho!) and a huge Governor's no bake cookie. Oh well- life goes on!
Exercise plans for this week include morning workouts on Wednesday and Thursday- one treadmill run and one DVD. DH is working next weekend, but I'll hopefully be able to get in a run outside if it isn't too cold for Eli to come or someone can watch him for me. Otherwise another treadmill or DVD on morning. Planning on playing Wii Fit or Just Dance 2 on the off days.
Pretty hectic week for us so I'm not sure about dinners, but options include homemade pizza, pasta with turkey meatballs, salmon, and probably some frozen soup.
My cold/old man illness didn't completely knock me out until Saturday night, so I was happy to be able to get in my first workout with my Long & Lean Prenatal workout DVD- holy crap did that pregnant lady own me! I did the 20 minute standing routine and the 10 minute stretch and flex and I'm still feeling the burn! I felt awful all yesterday, so I didn't workout and stuck to pretty much fluids, soup and toast.
I think I may take today off since I feel awful, or I might at least try to do the stretch & flex portion just to keep everything stretched out. I'm hoping to be back on the ball tomorrow, alternating between the standing and mat exersizes with stretching. I've packed the kitchen with tons of healthy meal options, and I've limited my bad foods to just a couple things for when the preggo monster takes control and I lose all rational food decision making.

The weekend went pretty well. I did eat more than I should have Saturday night but not an outrageous amount. Considering it was a Vietnamese banquet, that's what I was expecting. I did an extra-long work-out yesterday to counteract. ;-)
Social plans for the next couple of weeks revolve around lunches and coffees, so my nights should be free and clear for work outs. I'd like to do yoga tonight and Wednesday, cardio Tuesday and Friday and take Thursday off.
Dinners for this week: leftover gumbo, turkey-stuffed peppers (two nights), linguine with arugula, lemon & tuna and salad, and linguine with a mushroom-marinara sauce and salad.
Lunches: I'm doing greek yogurts for lunch with baby carrots. Snacks are granola bars, celery with peanut butter, poppocorn, apples or oranges.
I take weekends off from working out, so nothing to report there. My standing goal is to do 50 minutes of cardio five days a week and then 20 minutes of strength training three days a week. I should be able to manage that again this week.
As for food, I did awesome last week and lost 5 pounds. I know that rate of weight loss will slow down this week, so I am hoping for a two pound loss. We will see what happens. I roasted a turkey this weekend and made LOTS of stuff with the leftovers. Lunches this week will be a couscous turkey salad and a small treat and dinners will be roasted turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans (three nights) followed by a cheddar-chicken skillet recipe that I found online and 100 calorie packs. Breakfast will be the usual coffee with Coffeemate (or light eggnog until I use it up) and multigrain Cheerios with skim milk.
I also have a coupon for a free Like It sized ice cream at Coldstone Creamery that expires this week, so I am planning to try the Sinless Sans Fat Sweet Cream flavor on a day that I have points to spare.
Oh, and I found a GREAT website that allows you to enter in a recipe and then it calculates the nutritional information for you. Check out http://www.livestrong.com/recipes/create/.
I didn't workout this weekend, but did take a nice long walk in the woods with dh and the puppy on Saturday. Dh talked me into making frosted pumpkin cookies on Saturday night....so I had a bunch of those. Other than that, I did well. I made some healthy (whole wheat flower, oats, etc) blueberry muffins last night that I can have as part of my breakfast all week. I also had some apples to use up so I made some applesauce that I can eat this week as healthy snack.
Not sure about dinners this week, since I do my grocery/menu plan on Monday nights. Tonight though, I am making potato, Kale & Leek Soup. Probably will have a slice of bread and a salad with it. yum!
Goal is to do all 6 days of P90X. Last week dh and I did one day (LOL) so failed our goal miserably. Oh well...hopefully this week will be better for working out.
I am trying to get back on track. We went to the gym tonight for the first time in 2.5 months. We go to the gym M-Th, ideally.
Dinner was chili 1lb of 85% ground beef to 6qts tomatoes and beans.
Dinner the rest of the week is
Homemade Chicken Pot Pie
Beef Stir Fry
Leftover Chili
Sorry to butt in - not officially part of the Fit Chicks group - but I wanted to just say how hungry I'm getting reading all of your posts. Do you ever do recipe swaps? I've been trying hard to stay healthy and on a budget and find a ton of interesting recipes on www.cookinglight.com - go through the Hannaford circular each week and look for recipes that contain sale items. I find that, with a few exceptions, I try recipes more often I'd probably never look to try otherwise, which is fun.
My working out has been a bit lackluster, I have to admit. However, my job keeps me pretty active, so I tend to try to pawn that off as an excuse. I'd love to hear more about your experience with P90X. I've been going back and forth about whether I could get going to begin with, warranting the cost. I usually stick to yoga/pilates DVDs and I have a Planet Fitness membership I've used exactly twice since moving to Maine in July. We also do a ton of walking/biking/hiking in the warmer months, so this chilly transition has lessened that.
No membership required! Jump in (or out, in my pathetic case) anytime you want fitness support or to share what you have been up to to have a healthier life.
Absolutely!!
I think I am back on the healthy wagon (at least for now!). Friday night was a fail bc we had friends over & they brought pizza and cupcakes. But I went to spin on Sunday and have been back to paying loser attention to calories using SparkPeople.
I want to do spin or yoga 3 times a week (I think that's realistic) and just keep off the sweets this week. That will be a big step!
You gals are so sweet...it's tough wanting to contribute, but worrying everyone will be like, who is that and who cares??
I've lurked on some of the national boards and those ladies can be cruel...I haven't posted myself, but I've seen some serious junior high-style attacks...craziness.
The more you post, the quicker we will get to know you, so jump right in! The national boards can definitely be CRAZY...and we are almost always kind
This! Don't be shy! We're a lot nicer than the national boards.
