smoothie recipe, Moonstone come in

This recipe made me think of you because I know you make a lot of smoothies.  You ever use oatmeal?  I'm intrigued.  I might try it one of these days.

  • Thanks for thinking of me and sending a new smoothie recipe my way.  I must say I've gotten very comfortable with my normal breakfast smoothie.  Like I LOVE it.  I crave it.  YUM!

But today, I decided to make this instead.  It was pretty good; however, I had to change that original recipe a bit - 14 frozen strawberries with 1 cup of liquid - doesn't really work in  my book - and I'm using a VitaMix.

I posted my changes on my blog - thanks for the inspiration - you can check it out here: http://eatlivebewell.wordpress.com/2011/01/12/strawberry-oatmeal-breakfast-smoothie/

  • Im peaking : ) I really need to start drinking my smoothies since I am a total opposite of moonstone, I dont eat much veggies and fruits, I have a texture problem lol. But I can definitely drink smoothies and have no problem making everything natural instead of running to Smoothie King or other shops that adds a whole lot of sugar and what not.

Thank you for sharing this recipe I will have to try it. Oh and moonstone, I like your recipe too.

by the way I have a question, I always buy fresh fruits and intend to make smoothies for my husband and I then we forget or no time to make it then it goes bad. So you ladies mentioned frozen fruits, whats the best one out there to get? and where?

  • I use frozen bananas as the base for all my smoothies. I just buy lots of bananas each week, like lots, and when they get speckled brown, I peel then freeze them. I also buy frozen fruit in whatever is cheapest depending on the store I'm at. I think it is good to have strawberries and a mixed fruit bag on hand. Also if ive hit up costco and we can't finish all the fresh fruit we will freeze it - think berries and bananas - but you have to eat them quicker than store bought frozen or it gets freezer burned easily ( probably something to do with the technique in which commerically they freeze fruit , flash freeze, or something like that). I hope this helps.
